Mongol expansion..but no money

I am playing as the mongols and the khwarezmians and cumans are both wiped out but I am still gaining around 40k in debt every turn. So my question is, do the seljuks and russian factions need to be wiped out too before I can start seeing some profit?

Not that I am complaining, Genghis, Jebe and Subotai have had a grand time conquering everything

Disbanding some of your forces or conquering more territories is typically the only way you will start going into the black as the Mongols. I would be defensive up north and annihilate the Turks, Crusader States, and Fatmids. Doing this gives you access to a ton of sea trade which imo is the most profitable money maker in the game. (Also, you will never have to worry about the middle east again, besides the occasional crusade of course and eventual Timurid invasion.)

Ah, so I am doing it right

I have two 2/3 stacks in the north conquering the russian factions whilst 3 other stacks cause havoc amongst the seljuks before I eventually take on the crusaders and fatimids. I am looking forward taking on egypt, finally might get a challenge.

but the problem is, by the time you conquer the turks, crusader states, and fatimids, your financial situation is in the minus with lots of 0's. And as you don't have the money to "build up" any cities while you are conquering... your income is generally too low to offset the millions of debt you collected no matter how many cities you conquer (unless you are planning on clicking on that "end turn" button for the next 300~ turns or using cheat to give yourself some money).

At least this is my experience with the Mongol campaign.

I guess I am just going to have to conquer enough lands to get some profit per turn and then use my remaining armies to look the surrounding lands till I fix my debt situation.

Mongols are supposed to disband all Heavy Cav after the first turn as thats where most of the debt piles up from.
