it seems game crashes when the 5th son comes of age.
try to solve it by going into \data folder and open
descr_campaign_db.xml with notepad\textpad
find the line
<max_number_of_children uint="5"/>

and change "5" to "4"
save and exit.

not save-compatible unfortunately

In my games the game will sometimes crash before the first son comes of age.

I just cant seem to get it to work. I renamed the original Westeros folder and placed this one in the mod folder, but every time i try to open the game it goes to the Westeros Total War loading screen for about 5 seconds then just returns the my desktop.
I've tried a complete clean install, re-downloading the file, deleting the map.rwm and it just keeps doing the same thing. Westeros alpha 0.53 works fine, i just cant figure this out
Any one have a clue? I've attached the system log file if that helps.

Just tried my redownloaded version of this, still no joy for a clean install would i need to reinstall M2:TW in it's entirety or could I just redo kingdoms? cos I'm at uni and my M2:TW disc 2 is several hundred miles away

My game also goes back to the main menu after starting a game. I checked the log that someone posted some pages ago and my log looks identical. I renamed the old install and have done everything that I'm supposed too but it is still not working, any news on this issue?

This happened to me too, im using vista so this might not apply to others. Basically I deleted my Westeros subfolder from C:\\Users\CompName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ - then look for Medieval 2 folder and delete Westeros in the Mods subfolder. That's what i did anyway and it worked! Hope this helps.

You know what I find funny about the AI Starks? The armies start in the south after a long march to save the Tullys, only to march straight back north again, lol!

That is because the starks have no settlement bordering the enemies; And factions will only wage war if they share some border with their enemies. Also, the a.i tries to have a governor in every settlement and thus some of their frontline Generals retreat to serve as Governors.

Hmm, well I think that the AppData folder is a hidden one so if that's the one you can't find I guess it could solve your problem if you "un-hide" the folder. If that's not it, I have no idea what to do

around what turn does this crash normally happen? because in my case im about 130 turns up and still haven't experienced this after i've done Kilic Ali's solution.
