HP touchpad madness

I have a good friend who has an autistic son and is looking for one of these, preferably the 16gb version ($99). It has something to do with his treatment, and they just don't have the scrilla for a decent one until this insane price drop. They need to be able to print things out, which apparently this does.

So if anyone has a lead on one, please post here. I figured somebody might work at one of the stores that were carrying them. HP is supposed to release more in the coming days. We have been enlisting people to help in the hunt.

And yes I was looking for a tablet for myself a few weeks ago, but this isn't for me. I'm broke at the moment, which sucks.

Sorry to say but a quick search makes it seem that after the HP announcement last week that it was dropping out of that business it caused a run on the stock they had left. I couldn't find a retailer that still had them at that price or available at all. Are you sure there isn't another tablet that would satisfy his needs?

Sadly your best bet is to probably grab one off ebay, all the greedy people who bought like 10 of them are relisting them there for about double what they paid, still even at £200/$200 is still a bargain.

Pshhh if I found one of these I would keep it, I want a nice tablet for reading comic books

I mean I can sympathize with them but if they really need one you can get them on ebay, and the prices will probably drop a bit when everyone's orders ship.

They don't really need one, they just have an autistic son that has a treatment regimen that supposedly benefits from letting him tinker around with something like the this. It is the touch aspect. They were recommended more expensive options but they don't have the money. They saw this and they enlisted the help friends to tray and find one. That's it.

And I have no idea why I thought this place would be helpful. Everyone wants to be the smartest person in the room, and that's about the extent of it.

I have no idea why you thought this place could be helpful either. I mean even supposing someone really wanted to do everything they can to help, what can they do? If someone knows a website selling them then thousands of other people following the slickdeals news also knows and will be snapping them all up before you even see this.

The most help I can possibly be is to advise you to keep a lookout at local brick and mortar stores.

I bought 2 today, if you had posted this earlier I might have been able to get a 3rd. Supposedly there are some still in the production pipeline that will be finished, I have no idea how many though. The HP Home and Office stores are supposed to be getting more.
