Default Greater speed for "Dismounted Units"

It says that they would fight dismounted so I think they should have the same mp as the mounted counterparts since they just dismount for battle, also It should DEFINATELY NOT TAKE 6 YEARS TO MARCH FROM NORMANDY TO MARSEILLE unless you are really fat and lazy.

This is a game, and so limitations have been implemented by CA. If you want realism, mod it yourself or download a mod from the hosted mods section, but please, quit whining here about vanilla inconsistencies. We all know they are numerous and non historical, but they are not gamebreaking.

Well the game Actually says they dismount to fight and all the mods I've tried make the marching WORSE making it take like 6 years tto march through france EVEN THOUGH IT'S 6 MONTHS PER TURN, and the only experience I've had with modding is to edit the files around

Well, they dismount to fight or have lost their horse. If you read the units description at the crusades campagn, what it says about the dismounted crusaders is that most of them have "lost" their horse.

Relax, sharing your impressions from a game isn't bad.

I thought it was 18 months per turn

Regardless, if you don't like a particular game feature, then change it. I can't say how, but I can link you to the modding workshop, here. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=272 I am sure they can answer all your questions.

Alternatively, if that's too much like hard work, then stop coming on these forums and shouting at us about your frustrations. In any case, your army would have to follow with the knights, the vast majority of whom would be on foot. But even if you are just moving these units around, which would still require a retinue to be on foot, the state of roads at the time was appalling to say the least, so armies could not move very fast. In my experience, an army can get across France, from Normandy to Marseilles, in about 4 turns on basic roads. By your turn 's measurement, that's two years. By my measurement, it's six. However, you are suggesting that it takes 12 turns, which is possible if, say, you are surrounded by AI armies. However, it is extremely improbable, and quite frankly, you are overreacting.

Furthermore, the unit descriptions are, quite frankly, a load of BS. The game treats them as infantry units, so that determines how fast they can move. That value cannot be changed.

i believe there is a setting in the edu, that can make animations faster, as of the kingdoms expansion.

if you want to change movement points, its descr_character.txt.

i think its the lack of any sort of constructive arguement or question that made the thread sound more like a moan!!

It's only a campaign map in a game so some things are going to be a bit wacky, ships taking years to move around etc.

I'm absolutely outraged and furious though that the campaign map apples do not rot in winter. Kills the immersion stone dead.

People should've demanded a patch pronto.

This is why we need Med 3 asap

I can live with the wacky movement distances on the campaign map, and that the ships travel at the speed of a kayak wading through treacle and all that.

God only knows though how such a howler as the campaign map apples failing to rot in winter wasnt spotted by the games testers.

And where are the worms making holes in the apples during summer? Shoddy stuff A raw deal for medieval apple fans.
