    Icon5 Should Gondor destroy Barad-Dur?

In my campaign as Gondor I have just captured Barad-dur and am wondering if I should destroy the tower of Barad-dur (Mordor still has massive armies in the area, the extra wall defences might be nice).
Also, off-topic, any suggestions on who to go for next? I have defeated Harad long ago, Rhun will be gone in a few turns. Isengard mabye? or some of the orcs?

Never played as Gondor yet but when I took out Mordor as the Dwarves I didn't destroy it... You probably ought to leave it unless you want to roleplay and say you brought the tower "Crashing Down".

When you are able to destroy that tower you are developed enough to bring war to distant lands and that "-40%" bonus has no importance - you can do whatever you want. Structure itself is not evil I think. You can crush other evil factions to bring peace to that world.

Doesn't really matter. The Law boost is helpful, but may not matter. What's surprising is that it IS destroyable. You'd think things like that would be protected like Roads, Farms, and Mines are; a random Sack could pick it for destruction, or a crazy player could destroy these one-of-a-kind structures.

Are they rebuildable? I know I had to build the bridge of Khazad-Dum and the Chamber of Marzarbul for Moria/Khazad-dum as the Dwarves.

Ability to rebuild some of these structures depends on player faction. These buildings are faction-related.

The only way Barad Dur could be destroyed is if the Ring is destroyed. So, the destruction of Barad Dur should result in the destruction of Sauron and Mordor.

That might actually be an interesting victory condition. Should the good player destroy Barad Dur, it would be the symbolic destruction of the ring (and Sauron). Game over for the Mordor Faction. Would it be possible to tie the fate of Mordor to the destruction of a building?

@ Toshach that would be cool, but would mean a stack of soldiers and siege equipment with a good general will destroy mordor in the right hands. But after sauron's defeat in the second age, the tower was torn down, but its foundations remained. In an alternate timeline, Gondor (or another faction) could conquer Mordor and tear down the barad-dur, but its foundations would ultimately remain until the ring's destruction

Don't destroy it. The defenses are good to keep because you don't want to lose that settlement to Mordor or else they will get the free garrison again.

In TW games, it's impossible to destroy defenses such as walls. So this building has no connection with the walls around the settlement.

In the original post he says that the extra wall defenses might be nice. I'm not sure what the Tower of Barad-Dur does, but I took from that statement that it helps defenses in some way.
