Default Rome Total War The Book!

Morning everyone or good afternoon to others. Just wondered if anyone else has ever considered writing a fiction novel loosely based from RTW, I have! My first book was set in medievil times (got about 260 pages wrote before I scrapped the project) and a while back I started a new book on RTW as a way to release some of my admiration for the game. I had about 50-60 pages done when I stopped but due to a lack of time have been unable to continue :no the project. The story is fictional so don't get carried away with historical inaccuarcies. The plot was quiet good I thought, it was about a young greek slave working at a hippodrome in Rome who's master is a captain of a roman legion. A corrupt Roman Julii General and govenor, who has been removed as faction heir seeks revenge on his father and the new heir (his brother) frees the boy (not going to tell you why though or I would spoil the story) and trains him for the next while to become a master swordsman. He convinces the pure-hearted kid that the evil is the republic and with the slave's aid they bring down the SQPR and the Roman Julii. By the time the boy releases that he has been working against the other slaves of the day it is too late and the Republic has been destroyed...I not going to say anymore for now though or I would ruin the ending!

I think it is a nice idea! I wonder how you go around the game constraints (turn based-limited diplomacy etc) to present a plausible story. Why don't you present more of it?

I need to write more of it, or at least get up to the part were he teaches Nicanor (the greek slave). I can't remember the name of the Roman Julii General off-hand but Captain Stolo is Nicanor's master who gets his hand sliced by the The General in chapter 3 at the dinner party (I know this bit well as its down on paper). As regards the diplomacy end of RTW and turn limits? I just ignore em' however I was planning to have diplomats, spies etc all included somewhere as well as have forts. It is from a Julii fort stronghold in fact that the Governor and general makes his HQ and uses Nicanor as his top commander or a captain in RTW terms.
