How cal I play Rome Total Realism Gold If I have installed Rome Total War Gold ? The only reason that I bought RTW gold is to play RTR gold. I bought RTW gold for nothing ?

I think RTW gold is just the same as the normal RTW its just stated as gold because the game also comes with the expansion pack barbarian invasion. It's more of a marketing ploy to sell more games! I dont think you will have any problems installing it.. just remember not to install barbarian invasion. If you want to play RTR 6 gold.

You can't play RTR with the Gold edition. The gold edtion of RTW is updated to 1.5 (and 1.6 for BI) and RTR is only compatible with RTW 1.2. This means you will have to wait till RTR 7.0 or the conversion of RTR 6.0. Both of them are a long way off.

Unfortunately you can't. Sorry. :no Some tested 'downpatched' using the zip patch for 1.2 and it didn't work also.

That is because the old .exe were created for by CA for Activision and the RTW Gold new .exe were from Sega.

If I delete the folder with Barberian Invasion and then patch the remaining with the 1.2 Zip patch will it works ? The 1.2 Zip has one RomeTW.exe file inside. Then I will Install RTR gold and it will work. What do you think ?

Its not likely to, the patches affect other files than just the .exe, it may work but it is likely to be v.buggy.

you need the cd so it wont work,

That may very well work, if it wont, try a no cd crack for 1.2 when you have lent 1.2.(or is this illegal to speak about at the forums?)

i highly doubt this you need the original cd. you can use no cd cracks but it is illegal, believe me

Okay. Here's a request. We had made a bit breakthrough in our conversion project. So far we have tested by using RTW patch to 1.5 & also with BI installed patched to 1.6

If anyone who install from RTW Gold will be appreciate to try to download and test RTR 6.0 Gold conversion. Please see this thread here for further details instruction.

Yesterday I found the solution !!!!!
I ordered the RTW ( Original version (3CDs) - not the gold version ). I think today or tomorrow I'll have it.
I'm sure this is going to work perfect.

I forgot how, but I got Rome Total Realism to work on my gold edition (The double pack with 3 CD's and with BI)... I think I patched the game first with the 1.2 Update Patch then installed RTR and it runs fine..... I have no problem...

Okay , here's the deal. We have successfully converted the RTR 6.0 Gold into RTW 1.5 . So far we have tested using single RTW 1.5 installation and also the one with BI (1.6) Both works flawlessly.

However, none of our guys have RTW Gold yet so again I appeal to all who have it to join the playtesting. The main thread/download link are in the pinned thread above.
