K10N780SLIX3-WiFi Mobo Problems...

Alas, I have returned and with new problems.

I recently had a AsRock K10N780ASLIX3-WIFI motherboard hanging about. Brought it about 2 years ago for £125 and never actually used it till now. Anyhow, after plugging into my system and going through all the usual stuff you go through I noticed I couldn't get the programs to install.

After reading in a little more detail I believe that Windows 7 isn't supported. Now this usually means to me 'go explore some' unfortunately I am stuck. Is there anyway I can update drivers onto Windows 7.

"the programs" Do you mean the chipset drivers and whatnot or are you actually referring to some programs?

If you weren't so vague you would get more help. Windows 7 should come preloaded with a pre set of vanilla drivers that should get most of the features of your motherboard working including NIC and WIFI.

Exactly.

Assuming he actually meant "programs" that makes no sense...

Assuming he meant drivers that makes no sense either as Windows 7 should have taken care of everything....

Yeah sorry about that, the motherboard unit itself comes with several features such as instant boot, OC Tuner and some other goodies. I have all the basics, however still lack these program/drivers.

Well they aren't necessary by any means anyway. You can check the manufacturer's website, they probably have these programs compatible with Win7 available from there.

EDIT: Never mind I just checked and all they have is the programs available for XP and Vista. If you had an Asus or Gigabyte motherboard from 2 years ago they would have provided you with compatible installations by now, AsRock just isn't as good at supporting their products apparently.

Yeah I checked the website. Majorly dissappointing I know. Last time I buy an AsRock motherboard I'll go with Asus next time I think.

How much are we looking at for a good motherboard which can be expanded for the future and will also support my current stuff.

You can use your mobo as is... those programs aren't required for use. And if you do buy a new motherboard your copy of Windows will no longer be valid unless you paid for the expensive retail copy rather than OEM copy.
