    Icon3 Random Total War

this is not a mod, but a program that creates switch-mods))
you have just to set some parametres and push button 'OK' and mod will be done (it may take several seconds)
    some screenshots of program:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

now i'll tell smth about recommended values to set.
    Width, Height - i think it shouldn`t be more than 500. i usually set (200,150) or (300,200).
provinces - up to 199, but they shouldn`t be many for maps with lack of land.
factions - 2 to 19. (there is no senat). you can choose factions(button '...').
basic depth - 0 to 255, but i recommend values in middle of it(110 - 130). more is this value - more water will there be.
create ports - if you want ports to be created.
generate new units - this option is disabled in this version, but i`m going to realize it later)
native start position - if you choose this option, factions will start in native climates< e.g. egypt will be in desert, scythia in steppe, etc. if there is no lands with the climat, faction will be somewhere in other place.
erosion - mb not the best name for this value) if it if smaller, then there will be a lot of mountains, else there will be high mountains somewhere but other lands will be lowlands. recommended 1.0 - 2.5
smooth radius - more is this value - more smooth will be lands. recommended 20 - 50
left to OK button type caption of submods.
if you set bad values, game will crush. in this way just try other values (e.g. default)

in the bottom part of program you can sea some files that were generated.

here i`ll discribe what new mod is like:
all factions start with 1 city. other cities belong to rebels. you have faction leader in you city. and there are some buildings. rebels also have buildings in their cities but no armies at start. their cities are of random culture.
all cities, provinces and characters have random names! i tryed to make them readable, however it`s sometimes funny)) letters are latin and advanced latin.
all units and buildings in this version are from original game.

    about tga maps:

map_heights is a map of heights. blue there is sea

map_ground_types is map of ground types. mountains areas are generated by heights, and forests and fertile areas - by climates.

map_climates - is generated by map of temperatures and rainfall - they are not used by game, just to see.
rains go from west, like in Europe, so there will be less rainfall in the east, and in the south are deserts, temperatures depend on height and rainfall. i hope climate map to be rather realistic)) european climate is selected as there are textures and battle nature in rom total war for this.

map_regions - here are regions, black point is a city, and white one is a port. i tryed to make regions realistic - their borders depend not only on cities position, but also on climates, heights and rivers
there are more cities in mediterranian zone, and southern forests, but few cities in deserts, steppes and northern forests. some far islands may not display on this map: it would take too much time, but game paints this map itself up to end.

map_features - there are rivers. white poin is a source. cyan points - here can be bridges. blue is river.
black is nothing) rivers can fall into each other or into the sea))

i can`t say if it will work with earlier versions of rometw, but i have 1.5 or 1.6 and it works.
to run mod you should make label to rometw (as for any other switch-mode). in field object type snth like this:
    "F:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:Rnd_mod_1 -show_err

and some screenshots (i use textures from RS2 - i hope authors will noy be against))

i think that`s all. have fun!

    Okay...I tested...and have to say IT'S FREAKING AWSOME :-D

When I ran the camping...I was immpresed...

I was the julii,in the middle of the map, left of me where the Thracians...below,germans,and a bunch of empty rebel cityes.
Next to germania where the parthians,in a small desert.Macedon,Gauls,Charthage and a bunch of rebels where having fun west of me,in a VERY woody terrain...

To the east,in the south spain and seleucids fouth on a small island.
In middle east Numidians and Greeks where fighting for control of a eaven smaller island.
The armenians where totaly alone on a island, with 2-3 rebels, ofcorse
And in the western right corner of the map,on the edge of the world, where the Scytians...alone...fighting agaist rebels in a branch shaped island, wich looked awsome, since it looked like they are a new storm from the east, who, when take full control of ther island, come to the mainland...

    Just wow...

But there are a few problems:
First,as the creator said, you start with one faction leader, and surrounded by rebels...wich aint good, becose the rebel cityes at the start are EMPTY,and they slowwwllyyyy make troops to defend themselves...
Also, this means that you have to make a army from scrach, wich I hate...
Second, there are a LOT of rivers...maybe it's just me screwing the settings up...
Third, and final, when using this as imperial camping, there is a graphical issue...the old/original imperial camping is like...behinde the real one...

But I must thank the author for being an awsome person and making this, and I hope to see a eaven awsomer version,I just hope that this RTW tool/mod does ont finish like the other RTW tools do...

    Also,THERE IS A BI VERSION????

    Good work! ! !

I've made a similar program for M2TW some years ago Here, but it was for matlab and I haven't bothered with sea or rivers.

I've made a mod, heavily scripted reached the 3.12 version that adds many things. Some will be interesting for you in case you don't have them already.

Namely: Putting armies in all the random cities if it's not already included.

It's not something like geomod, it creates random maps I think. I would like to see something like geomod (although geomod doesn't really work with me)

I will test the tool and give you feedback. Thanks!

Edit: Allright after a brief look I can say: This tool is on the way to being the thing that revives RTW once more. It could turn out to be the "skirmish map" mode for a total war game in a sense of an advanced launcher. Choose a faction, create the map and directly start a campaign with the chosen faction on the created map - make some settings and all it takes is one click on "ok". That would be way to cool.
I don't know what's in the next update, but I guess randomized trade resources, randomized town levels/population and buildings (to some extend) and possibly randomized faction characters (balanced stalin etc.) would be a nice touch. And less starting denarii (for regular factions - not rebels - maybe randomized from 5000 - 8000), to see if the AI can cope with that.
And as it has been said already: less rivers, please.

yea this is a phenomenal tool! I'm really impressed but I only wished it were possible to have a tool that builds other TGA and text files from a basic heights map

I cant get it to work, I really dont understand which files I'm supposed to replace with the text and world files from the generated map, or if im supposed to replace any files at all. Since the new mod dosnmt have a launcher I replaced the rome files with the mods files. Didnt work, now I'm reinstalling rome. PISSED trying to figure this out. I did the whole generator part right, but I don't kno where to go from there.

EDIT-nvm previous paragraph, realised it's a modswitch, problem is I dont know how to "modswitch", as I've only modded med 2 before now, using the kingdoms mods folder. So do I rename rome launcher? or properties of it? I'm trying to figure it out.

edit 2- really annoyed now, I got mod switch.exe, used it got rmd file in rtw main folders, installed and everything but I can't play, as it crashes to desktop upon pressing button to start campaign. (I have version 1.5)
