Except that he is, um, supposedly, evil? I read the wikipedia but found nothing.... Not on the bible chapters I scanned also (I haven't read them all of course)

Has he killed anyone out of greed or jealousy? Or commanded murder or rape? Or robbed or taken anything not of his own?

Some people think the power of Satan working through humanity was responsible for the holocaust and all that sort of thing. Though that kind of removes our own responability a bit. Otherwise he's just an angel who rebelled against God and was sent to hell (not in the bible but its in the Quran), I think he killed abouit 10 people in the Bible or something like that.

The concept of a devil is used as a foil for God. It has no validity other than trying to support the necessity of God and explain why, with an omnipotent, perfectly good God, evil exists in the world.

To put it simply, Satan is evil so God doesn't look AS evil when you compare them.

But if Satan would have known that God is omnipotent, why would he have rebelled against Him, knowing that he has no chance? And if God was omnipotent, why would He have allowed for imperfection (evil) to exist? And if evil is just another form of perfection (i.e. if there is no difference between good and evil), then why punish evil? Doesn't all this contradict God's very omnipotence?

Apparently he rebelled when Gods back was turned, its a myth anyway. He probably has his origins as Ahriman in Zoroastrianism the arch enemy of Ahura Mazda and was imprisoned within the universe. Satan was impriosoned in hell so in theory there isn't really anything he can do down there anyway, in Dantes Inferno he's in a block of ice.

Satan is simply a metaphor what people are: violent, carnal and gluttonous.

Satan isnt realy that Evil, most of what people see as him today (big red devil who spends his time torturing people in a world of fire and brimestone), was created during the darkages-middleages to explain why was so bad and scare people into the religion

Either many of you are stupid or don't know your Bibles. This wonderful being you spout about has been until the crucifixion accusing your kind into hell and you guys think he is great, what a bunch. He played his part in the fall, tried desperately to get Jesus under his spell and still has the power to wield you guys into making some sort of hero out of him.

In Biblical terms he is a created being just one notch below God and one notch above you who are limited in time to some three score and ten years on this planet and then what? If you rely on him then hell and what's after is a certainty and you guys think he is great at best and inconsequential at worst. Easy enough eh, that you are persuaded like Eve although in her case she could have rejected him, but you cannot because you are under the power that is of him.

There is absolutely no need to sell your anything to him because he already owns you lock, stock and barrel. Oh but I forgot, he too doesn't really exist at least can't in a world of evolutionary thinking yet the strange thing is that like Jesus who also doesn't exist, the two of them are the most written of beings on the planet. Yep, Jesus actually has a record of changing lives but ole Diablos changes nothing, preferring that man stays in the mire.

So this Sunday morning as you get out of your scratchers and make your way to the old computer chair, perhaps with the first fag in your mouth or the half empty can of liquor waiting to be finished, have a look in the mirror at some point and what you see is what Diablos wants you to be.
