Edit Preferences

Whenever i try to edit prefences in the launcher, i get and error saying something like "Error in line 88 ZZZ"

I want to change my grass_distance from 75 to 125 and i have tried to do this manually, but it seems to reset itself to 75 when i enter the game?

I manually edit the preferences.txt file all the time. I have also used the launcher to do so.

If you use the launcher you need to be careful to point the editor at the correct version of the preferences file. I believe you need to identify the higher level folder.

As for manually saving the file - is it set to read-only?

If you are using Windows Vista or 7 what have you done with UAC and where did you install it to? The install instructions whoch are part of the release thread are faily specific on how we recommend to install the mod - for a reason (to avoid certain known problems).

I am using XP.

No matter what folder i choose in the launcher i get "Error parsing file: Line 88 ZZZ"

When i edit it manually i seem to have to do it everytime i start the game because it resets itself to the default 75.
