Greetings fellow EB players,
been a long-time lurker and when having issues with the game I usually have found my answers in either the FAQ or in other threads, but this time I am stumped.
Here is the problem:
Setting: I have taken over all the needed Victory Condition Cities to the west of the Makedonian Homelands and I am now pushing into the massive yellow blob known as Egypt to the east in order to grab the last cities I need, my plan being to conquer Alexandria as the last city for RP related reasons.
That aside, I have a large army besieging Ankyra (belongs to Egypt) at the moment, with two semi-large Elite Egyptian armies close-by. (I have FoW on so when I moved into Siege the city I didn't see that I would be severely outgunned.)
The two Egyptian armies (3 if you count the small army in the city) then attacked me, but my contingent of 4 Argyraspides held the line multiple times against the Egyptian onslaught, leaving my mobile infantry to roll up the sides once the Egyptians became exhausted from throwing themselves at Silver Shields, leading to a Heroic Victory, one of those battles where despite the bad AI you go, "whoah, how did I manage that."
Well, this Heroic Victory led to me being able to take over Ankyra the next turn, followed by a CTD.
This approximately describes the faces I made while I tried to fathom what just happened:
----->
----->
----->
---->
---->
I have then replayed this near impossible victory 4 times in order to see if it would CTD again, won it twice, lost twice, every time I take over the city it CTD, even if I just occupy it.
---------
To my question: I don't care if I have to use some cheat, but is there any way to use the console to get rid of the 2 Egyptian Armies I defeated previously, and make Ankyra mine without crashing to CTD. It is forcing me to start another campaign and leave my beloved Makedonia to the side because this CTD deadlock is so frustrating. Any other alternatives that would kind of lead to the same outcome would be much appreciated.
PS: I am playing the game on a mac.
