Default How can I properly use two handers?

I understand how to use all other kinds of troops except two handers.... They always seem to lose in combat unless against an inferior two hander... Help please? (I am currently playing as the crusader states so as far as I can tell, they only have two handed swords and possibly axes if I can get Eddessan ones)

Like Caesar said, they typically have a powerful charge and sometimes pierce armor or get bonuses to cavalry (or both!). Without shields they're more vulnerable than your standard heavy infantry, though, so you want to save them in reserve for the hammer blow to knock out engaged units.

They're also very good at jumping out of siege towers.

    exactly....
and they are not weak, my french foot knights destroy th english heavy swordsmen with ease...
make sure they are charging, thats their trade...
and remember that they are weak against missiles(no shield)
crusader states starts with weak 2handed troops compared to muslim factions, but when u get templar guard or something of the holy sepulcor, u will beat anything...

Theyre like heavy cavalry against spearmen, best used for a charge because in prolonged melee theyre doomed

I often use them to defend gatehouse and walls, they would chop down enemy like butter.

Make sure you protect them from archers, as the lack of a shield means they're far more vulnerable from the front.

Tactic perfect for them is in offensive action something like this, always after cavalry was charged, atacked, or keep at bay. Must advance in a second line, after a fast light infantry or spears. They must atack on wings, perfect will be from behind. They are something like a charger cavalry without horse. In infantry only battles are excellent chargers. The archers and cavalry are their biggest enemy. Twohanders are units who work well at 1300.
They are best used at defence. Gate or street battles are easy to manage. Spesrs absorbing charge and twohanders killing spree. In melee cavalry and heavy infantry are easy killed by these guys.
Twohanders have their ranks too. Some are great with swords, this mean great charge but is not excellent like armor piercing axes or billhooks.
If you must choose from a swabian swordman and a huskarl axeman, always choos huskarls. And be carefull with egyptian axemans. They are your cavalry and armor killers.
