it should be in the main directory under saves, c:local disk/program files/sega/medieval 2 total war/saves, something like that

when i had to reinstall my game, i couldnt find the save files either, and i had the entire game unpacked. i did notice however that when i uninstalled the game, it game me the options to keep my saved games and preferences. i did, and after i uninstalled, i deleted the entire folder (there was no save game or preferances in the file, or anywhere i could see). but, when i reinstalled, my preferences and saved games were still there.

sorry i know this is more of a story then any help, but maybe someone can explain how this works.

UAC enabled then your saved files are here:

C:\Users\*Your Username*\AppData*\Local\VirtualStore\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Saves

* = Hidden Folder
If UAC is disabled then here:

C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Saves

I dont really get this whole UAC enabled thing. I have windows 7 and i tried playing Stainless Steel mod and it wont work. It always crashes when I try to enter a battle and it says 'prepare for battle'.

Not sure I am doin the UAC thing right. I right click on sega folder- properties- security- edit and change permission to allow full control for me the user and administrator by ticking all the boxs but I cant for the life of me access the appData file- It isnt visble. Also my username has a lock attached to it, is that stopping me?

click view in properties on the folder and check 'view hidden files' then you should be able to see appdata.

i had the UAC enabled and still didn't have a save folder

i also deleted the M2TW folder after uninstalling so i could have a completely clean install and it still had my saved games and preferences loaded. i don't get this because even if it was a hidden folder, shouldn't it have been deleted when i deleted the main game folder? don't get me wrong, im not complaining. im glad it somehow kept my saves and preferences. just curious on how...?

It will clear all your doubts about it and no re-installing won't delete the hidden folder.

Not properties of a folder but from the Menu Bar>Tools>Folder Options>View>Show Hidden files check box.

I need to take my PC in for some work which may wipe the hard drive. I can't find my saved games anywhere (for SS - I use 6.4).

I did all the stuff above, showed all my hidden folders, too. Using that method, I can see all the saved games for Vanilla & the Americas, Teutonic, and Brittania campaigns, but no SS.

Does anyone have any other guesses? If it helps, I have the store bought CD of Medieval 2, not the steam version.

They're on my hard drive somewhere!!!?!?? Help!
