Same here, I want to see if he'll have any relevant role to play now that he is out. Someone said that Asha might take him and de-throne Euron.

Like the Ironborn, who despised him to begin with, woud follow the creature that has become of him.

I loved the Reek chapters though. Breaking people mentally by raising their hopes, then crushing them, is actually a real method used in less happy times and places

It happened once before. They talked about a time where a Kingsmoot was held in the absence of one of the heirs. The heir was off raiding when the Kingsmoot was held and someone else was elected King. He returned and said that the Kingsmoot was unlawful because he wasn't there. The Ironborn killed their King instantly and put the returned heir on the throne.

True, but that doesn't mean Theon can, or will do the same. He's not exactly King-material at this point. Even though the Crows Eye isn't well loved, he's still thrice the man Theon is.

In the end, Ironborn value Strength and Skill higher than claims alone

That's just the next step on the ladder. They don't even know claims, other than Strength

Will the ironborn praises the crows-eye's strength when they notice he sent nearly the entire fleet off into Essos somewhere?? To never be seen again possibly.
Victarion said he would send no ravens just to make his brother squirm.

We dont really know what's happening on Pyke since AFFC. I think there's still hope for Theon to claim his birth-right. Sure a lot of the high ranking iron-born didnt respect Theon, but all of them thought him dead now. If he returns with Asha some of Balon's old supporters may rush to his side. And as we find-out all through-out ASOIF, the common people dont really care about who sits the thrones.

Well, all I can say is that I'll give up any claim on understanding the Ironborn-mindset, should they turn out to elect a toothless, spineless, gelded traitor-cripple for their king It's a valid question who else to choose though, should Euron fall. I have a feeling Victarion will have a different fate..

He isn't spineless. Ramsay just had him conditioned against any thoughts of escape. What's the point of having courage or trying to escape when you know all it will do is get you in more trouble then when you started. Not to mention, he did not take his mind. He still has his sanity and he does not lack for intelligence. The capture of Winterfell was a stroke of genius. It was the holding it that was the mistake. I do not know if he is still able to fight or not (We have not seen whether he is still able to hold a sword and use one, we only know he has lost a lot of weight and muscle mass, which he can gain back), but if he still has his wits, then he might still have a chance. Also, when did he betray the Ironborn? He betrayed the Starks, and that is a good thing from the Ironborn point of view.

I feel sorry for Theon and want him to end up happy(if thats even possible for him any more)
But I don't see the Ironborn making, a twenty year old, old man who has no dick and can only eat mushy peas through a straw, their king

You still have the choice to fight to the death, or at the very least, kill yourself. He complied to being treated worse than an animal though, which makes him spineless in my books.
Not to mention, he did not take his mind. He still has his sanity and he does not lack for intelligence.
He seems to regain his sanity towards the end of ADWD, I'll give you that.
The capture of Winterfell was a stroke of genius. It was the holding it that was the mistake.
I have to disagree. A good tactician thinks ahead, so capturing something that you can't hold, is a mistake in the first place. And we know he planned to hold it. It would have been different if he burned it to the ground, but the way he planned it shows that he was out for a short-lived gain and didn't think about the consequences for a minute. He might be intelligent, but he's utterly unwise.
Also, when did he betray the Ironborn? He betrayed the Starks, and that is a good thing from the Ironborn point of view.
You got a point there. Even though he betrayed his "family", it was a greenland family and he showed his devotion for the Ironborn. I basically just added traitor to his numerous titles because it's the #1 point on my Theon-hatelist

Yeah, Ramsay's a real ass. Theon never deserved that much. He was disgusted with himself at how he was getting things done and only wanted respect from his father (which he could have gotten if he had left).

Although he is alive, he's dead in my mind.

I know it's been discussed before, but without conclusion, do we know for certain he's been gelded? The 1 chapter where he takes part in the consummating of Ramsey's marriage is strong evidence that he has been, but im not convinced 100%.

He can certainly still fight if he regains his strength. He lost a couple pinkys and a ring finger I think, nothing major; he's a bowman besides, even easier. The Greatjon lost his ring and pinky to Greywind and he still fought his ass off.

I wonder how long we'll have to discuss these things sigh, c'mon George throw us a bone.

I can't bring myself to hate Theon especially after what has happened to him.
