    Default Domus Ameilia

Located on the Aventine hill, Lucius inherited this Domus from his uncle. Gaius Ameilius had no son and favored Lucius over his brother, Titus. Lucius has no family of his own, his brother and parents being his only family. Being only 20, Lucius is a young senator who has some knowledge for his age.

Emerging from a sharp corner, Senator Curio's humble litter arrived at its destination.
"Lucius go see if this Senator Gracchus is home. I should like to speak with him"

Lucius sends his slave Ariovistus to escort Senator Curio inside.
"Please, come in. Lay down, would you like some wine?"

Numerius followed as he was bid and laid on the nearest coach. His head held by his hand.
"Wine? Oh no I've had my fill at home. You see I was just returning to my residence when I heard your speech at the rostra. It reminded of a certain man, Caesar I think his name was. Oddly quiet nowadays considering the passion he had. Anyways when I heard that you had joined our ranks I decided to see you immediately, you see I knew your uncle. Not in a personal level but I met him from time to time. A good man.

You see I was wondering whether what you said today was truly what you believed in. I mean to have ideals are good, but to seek change with haste can be dangerous for Rome"

I sense that you are against those policies. As you know I am still a young man with little experience in governing. I have to discover which of the many political "friends" best suit me and my needs. I do understand the Bonii desire to keep things as they are, but I also understand the plight of the Caesareans. With all that said I will entertain anyone who wishes to show me what they believe to be a smarter way to govern Bella Roma. Perhaps we can discuss the course of the city and plot out a stronger path with less....disagreements. I look forward to any future discourse.

"Yes, well naturally. And in spite of our differences in the matters of both our age and experience. I see a wisdom in you, you have a future young man that would be best cultivated with time. But enough of that, you see I understand you are running for tribune. I believe that your passion for the well being of Rome is well placed and you may expect my vote. Perhaps you would do me an equal favour by supporting my nomination for Preator?"

    Later that day...

Lucius arrived at the house of his future comrade in the Tribunus position. He dismounted, along with his wife, Valeria. The two walked to the door and asked if Senator Gracchus was available.

I will gladly support your bid for Praetor. I look forward to an eventful next year.

Lucius has his wife produce a bottle herself from their cellar at home. The Senator smiles.

No need to. A treat from us. An old Greek brand.

    Lucius looks at Lucius.

I decided to come by and get to know the man who will a Tribunus along with me. I want to make sure we can both cooperate for the sake of the Republic and her future.

    Hi Caesar's Heir,

Not sure where you have your slaves applied, but it would appear from what I can figure out that your finances are wrong. Please ensure you double check, and if you could post where slaves are applied this would be great.

That's what the farm section of the calculator looks like. In the general rules it says that I can have 2 per small farm and 4 per large far, so I have 8.

Lucius smiles at Lucius' wife as he signals a slave to receive the wine.

Why, thank you, an excellent Greek brand it is.

Lucius turns his attention back to Lucius

Yes, for the Republic's sake I hope we can understand each other's beliefs. I was just talking to Senator Curio about the best way to run Rome and I would love to hear ideas from more people. I want to hear all the ways people believe Rome can succeed and use those beliefs as building blocks to my own.

Lucius nods as he sits down with his wife, enjoying a glass himself of the wine.

One major belief my father taught was this...Mars and the Republic rewards the hardworking and the dutiful with fortune. Those who slack off or seek higher ambitions without proper reason shall only create their own downfall in the quicksand below their feet. It is better to make allies than enemies, my friend.

Lucius sighs lightly and looks outside at Rome.

The Republic is plagued by barbarians from the outside...and from ambition within. The Senate is slowly dividing between conservatives and populists. Consul Severus mentioned something about populists when I first met with him. I am still trying to figure out both sides myself. But I work to better the interests of Rome and her people, the reward is my own gain in the end...as well as that for the Republic's gain.

I completely understand, and I feel that it is a Tribune's job to defend the Republic through the people and their veto. We should refrain from our political beliefs influencing all of our actions as Tribunes, instead of our duty to the people and to the republic.

I completely agree...we shall work for the people and the Republic herself. I am glad that we will be cooperating for the best of the Roman people and our beloved nation.

Lucius then raises his glass into the air.

A toast to the new term of the Republic...to our duties...to the safety and security of our nation...and to the future glory to come this year. Jupiter and Mars, give your sons and daughters great fortune.

I grew up working on my parents' farm. They knew that my brother, Titus, would inherit the farm, so they saved money all their life to send me to school. Here I am today, on the first rung of the Cursus Honorum.

A rather interesting background...I was the only child of my father...who had a legacy due to my grandfather, Maximus Regulus, a rather celebrated military commander who was known for his career in the Balkan campaigns to help subdue the Greeks...my father, Antonius, took over the estate and was also another celebrated military commander and senator for pushing forth measures to secure our holdings among the Greek city-states.

Lucius sips his wine lightly and looks outside at Rome.

I was a Legate myself in Greece...stationed at the city of Nicopolis...the most southern city of the Republic. That's where I met my wife. When my father died a few years ago, I took over the estate and became a senator, retiring after twenty years of military service. I get most of my fame from those two...but I am planning to create my own legacy for my son and daughter to enjoy.

Amazing! I hope one day to lead Rome's armies to glory, conquering those foul barbarians, and showing them the light of civilization.

I personally believe that war on multiple fronts is a poor move, which is why I personally applauded the movement for trade with the Thracians. We can use the money from the trade to subjugate the western tribes in Spain and Gaul. What does an experienced military commander like yourself think?

Lucius now reaches for his wine and has a few sips before looking at Lucius with interest.
