I recently shifted to SS6.4 after having played 6.1 for half a year, and while I see 6.4 as a another huge leap forward, it certainly has made things a lot harder. I used to play h/vh in 6.1 and now I find myself switching back to n/h, and I STILL encounter seemingly insurmountable difficulties.
In my current campaign as Novgorod I'm having my best luck yet securing a stable economy and keeping peace with the Cumans and Byzantines while taking out the weaker factions one by one. So far everything's been running smoothly and on my 70th turn I've wiped out Lithuania, Kiev and Denmark will soon bow to my will.
However, I have run into a really annoying problem: My second faction leader, who had accumulated an authority rating of 10, has died at the respectable age of 89 (love the new possibilities for longevity BTW) and has left the throne to his enept nephew who is a completely useless brat with next to no positive traits and a pitiful authority rating of 2, worse than that he's only 38 years old and not likely to die anytime soon! The result is, that my field generals are starting to rebel all over the place, even when they have loyalty ratings of 7+ taking precious full-stack armies with them.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue? I could ofc. just have the bastard attack a supperior force and get himself killed, but this seems a bit like cheating and his heir isn't much better anyway, having inherited most of his fathers negative traits. It seems that one of the changes in 6.4 is the inability to control the lineage of faction leaders and heirs, which I guess makes sense, but how do I solve the problem of an inept ruler tearing apart my kingdom?
Any help would be much appreciated.
