FRAPS Troubles
Ok, this program seemed very easy to use when I dowloaded it - too easy. I have followed the steps on several tutorials: Open FRAPS, select framerate etc., open RTW, open replay, press F9 to start/stop record. This all goes more or less smoothly. But when I look in the file that FRAPS dumps the videos into, there is nothing there. Am I missing something here?
P.S. I have an unregistered version if that matters

Re: FRAPS Troubles
Try putting the directory for where the movies are located in a different place and see if that works. If not, make sure it is F9, and make sure that the F lock isnt off. Other than that, I don't know

Re: FRAPS Troubles
Have you checked your FRAPs folder? I know you said that the movies are sent to a specific location, but you should try there.
For the F lock look here.

Re: FRAPS Troubles
Ok guys, I appreciate the help. I just figured out (in my infinite god damn stupidity) what was wrong. Last time I opened FRAPS my firewall brought up an icon that said this program would be monitoring keystrokes, something I normally associate with spyware and so deny. Upon reopening the program I realized that it couldnt possibly operate without this and ... voila! I am an idiot. Anyways, thanks for the quick responses, I appreciate it.

Re: FRAPS Troubles
Ok, while we are on the subject of modding tools, I have a question: Where is everyone getting their 3ds max from? Verson 8 costs $3,500!!! Here are the possibilities:
1) I am the only person without money at TWC (unlikely)
2) Their is some other less expensive program which gives similar results (hopefully)
3) We have a lot of guys here who can get their hands on, ummm, "under the counter" versions of certain products ...
Will someone please tell me what is going on?

Re: FRAPS Troubles
There is no less expensive version, some modders have bought copies, but i suspect that many have less than legal version, though no discussion of how to get one is allowed here.

P.S. - is there an trial version that doesnt have a 30 day time limit? Even if it was only a barebones, nothing added program. Thanks

Alright, thanks. Bummed, but thanks.
Could you in theory just keep downloading the trial version? Pain in the ass sure, but loophole? You tell me

Re: FRAPS Troubles
Even more good news ... I guess I should just resign myself to editing models which have already been made, lord knows there is enough material out there.

Re: FRAPS Troubles
I completely agree. With so many models available, and the models being low poly as they are, it's possible to do a lot just with skin.
