Seleucids for a challenge
The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be used until they try and take it away.Staff Officer of Corporal_Hicks in the Legion of Rahl
Commanding Katrina, Crimson Scythe, drak10687 and Leonidas the Lion
Depends on what you find "fun."
Underdog factions- Armenia, Dacia, Thrace, Numidia, Pontus
Rushing factions- Romans, Egypt, Parthia, Britons, Germannia
The others I do not have a fun time playing as.

i would say the armenians, but bactria is all right too (assuming you have RTR)
i like Pontus alot , the got a really hard time starting off. and that's way i find fun....
The Seleucids are fun. Great units all around. Plenty of enemies to fight. I always enjoy the Romans. Their campaigns are full of fighting and are very action packed.
Yeah my typical idea of fun is a campaign full of action packed fun, a struggle, and only start out with around 1-10 provinces.
Someone I found fun was scythia as they skip out all light infantry besides peasents and have good cav.

Bah, Scythia, maybe if they had a nice starting location they would be fun, but it just gets boring with all that space around you. Their axemen are all right, but their specialty cavalry is something else. :laughing:Originally Posted by Corrosion

Greece is quite hard to play, for the units are quite annoying, even though they're good. No good cavalry, really, so its quite a challenge.
Chosen Axemen are ferocious, but Berserkers are even better. I was playing a bridge battle where I was on the defence and my entire army was Bererkers, while I faced a Roman Post-Marian Army. When the Romans started to get on the bridge I let the Berserkers go wild, and the river was littered with about 300 bodies or so while the others were scattered everywhere. I don't have pics, though I may be able to get them later. In short: Play as the Germans if you want a topless, barbaric experience! (Topless being nothing more than PG

For extreme challenges...try the Rebels :wicked. Yeah, I'm crazy alright to suggest them. I haven't played as them (I have an obsession with not getting conquered).
But for another answer, Pontus and Seleucia are two fun factions. I only played as Seleucia once...and gave up...because everyone declares war on them and they can be very challenging. However, Pontus is very good to play as. Quite fun to plot to conquer all of Asia Minor then look towards the Egyptians. Plus Pontic Heavy Cavalry can be quite powerful if you use them right - they have javelins and when flanking hand-to-hand melee can be a potent force.

if u r lookin for fun, recruit yutseb elephants
seleucids all the way. action packed and a huge challenge against the Egyptians (Don't ally with them, they have a habit of ignoring it)
for some reason i can never play too long as the same faction before getting bored of it. Also ive never played as carthage, for some reason i dont like them. My favs tho are Rome, Macedon and Parthia, the only factions ive played major campaigns with. I guess i like to try and relive historical conqests
I think that Carthage is all downhill once the Romans are gone, the game just becomes too straightforward from there. Factions that start off in areas where they have to struggle to survive are probably the most "intense" because they have to constantly be watching out for danger. Armenia would be the best example of this; if you've seen the succession campaign topic, then notice the size of Armenia there and the soldiers available. They, like Numidia, are a good faction once they've conquered a lot.

i always play with the carthaginians only. i play very hard mode and i always let the roman armies evolve into legionaries coort and urban too. then they will die aginst my army
Im thinking about playing Seleucia on Mundus Magna, anyone reccommend a difficulty setting to put it on?
I usually do M/M because im pretty much just a straight forward commander....attack from the front and sideI rarely have enough unit to try a flanking manuever
