Favorite unit type

Strangely enough, I've never seen one of these.

My favorite unit type is the horse archer. They annihilate infantry and can double as archer killing, router chasing light cavalry in a pinch. Their mobility means anything short of fast light cavalry or other horse archers will never catch them, and even then, you've probably got some heavy cavalry nearby to rescue them. Or if you're me, you have another 3 HAs right next to the dudes who got charged, and can easily overwhelm the enemy.

They shine the most when you completely encircle an infantry army. Arrows from 4 directions kills anything in seconds.

Anyway, what is my favorite unit type?
Well, horse archers are the ones who are most efficient. Archers are those who win battles for me.
But I think I'll vote heavy infantry because they are the most awesome-looking troops

Definitely Artillery. It's just awesome to see your cannons shoot holes into the enemies lines. Especially if you use the turkish giant bombard.

Light Cavalry for me. I know that Missile Cavalry can do a similar job, but I've had most success with Light.

Archers baby! Lure in the enemy cavalry iwth your ravishing Longbowmen of death and retreat them behind heavy infantry, kill the cav and continue raining hell onto the enemy! MUAHAHAHAHA-

Heavy Cavalry for me I really like the Knights whole thing althow they did lost most of the time coz of their pride and arrogance.

Horse Archers for me.
I´m really an all Cavalry player, but will go for HAs as the best cavalry.
They are flexible and capable, and goes great both all alone or as just a few units to support the rest of the army.
Their verssatility makes them invaluable in all battles.

Heavy inf are the best to me the can kill cav and if the catch any thing you will win most of thE time

those byzantine swordsmen look just too badass (not to mention the western dismounted knights/swordsmen)

Well, I am between heavy infantry and heavy cavalry. I have been a heavy cavalry fan for long time, but after I played Britannia campaign as Norway, I have realised that heavy infantry is the core of your army.

Archers for me.

Not really thinking of Peasant Archers, more along the lines of .. Norse Archers, Dismounted Dvor, Venetian, Sicilian Muslim Archers, etc -- all these archers , you get them a blacksmith armor level and fill half your army with them.. They kill most of the enemy before it even reaches you, and anyone who slips through they can handle on their own!

You forgot to add Javelin Cavalry...Jav Cav are the best in my opinion(esp. with spain/portugal because you can retrain in cities) just because a stack of them can annihilate much faster than any other unit, not to mention that having multiple stacks of them is possible without having an extremely good financial condition. Having a full stack of heavy cavalry would do the job too, but that's just too unrealistic, you know, unless you have "an extremely good financial condition."

Edit: I'm surprised no one put crossbowmen...

yup, that's pretty much one of the best combos, throw some merc light cavs, and you're all set
