    There might be tiny tweaks, but the Sanada's implementation is pretty much complete. It will be released in version 1.6 (check the bottom of the post for information) .

    And guess what? Not only are they in the game, but if you use the "Anegakoji.pack" from Mitch's "All Factions Playable" mod, you can actually PLAY as the Sanada-shi!

    Just imagine diplomatic relations with the Takeda:
    "YUKIMURA!" "OYAKATA-SAMA!" "YUKIMURA!" "OYAKATA-SAMA!" "YUKIMU- Wait, who the hell are you?"

    The only thing that annoys me with adding such cool clans is that I feel much more obliged to play as them. I still need to finish my Ukita campaign. Naoie will bow to no-one by 1600 (even if he is dead...)!

    Regarding the upcoming V1.6:
    CA has set a release date for the Rise of the Samurai DLC as well as their big patch: the 27th (I'm not sure if that would be the 26th/27th or the 27th/28th.) Anyway, I too have set a due by date for the work for version 1.6. I intend to have everything done by the 25th. Once I have downloaded the patch, I'll ensure there are no game breaking changes and promptly release it thereafter. Do note that, while I am focusing on the main campaign of Shogun 2, I am very willing to expand to the Rise of the Samurai visual content!

    In having a quick look at what files the unit variety mod introduces, there doesn't look to be any compatibility issues. In practice, there could be a few conflicts that result in either one of the mod's content being used instead of the other. Future versions of my mod may prove less and less compatible with other visual mods, including but not limited to the unit variety mod.

    I think that the release date will be 27/28th(but I'm not sure).The unit variety has no compatibility problems(I use the UV).And I am very happy to hear that you will probably be expanding your mod to The Rise Of The Samurai DLC.It looks like this mod might become a hole overhaul(not only banners and colours0but units,cards,UI,loading screens...Very nice.Continue the good work.

    I have nine or so days to add new content, so the list of changes will probably be bigger.

    Here is what I have finished and tested:
    -The Sanada clan! This comes with a new banner, new crests, army recolouring and text-based changes (go back a few posts to see some screenshots).
    -A new Ukita banner. The background is now a historically valid purple; I have also removed the cloud. The Ukita crests have also been changed accordingly.
    -The old Ashikaga banner has been repurposed into the standard rebels banner. I avoided using the rising sun banner because the circle crest was common. I believe that having a very general "rebels" faction is the most appropriate clan to have the rising sun banner.
    -Agent icons: appropriate changes have been made to the Shimazu, Kiso, Ikko-ikki, Ukita, Hosokawa and Kuroda.
    -Polishing of previously changed banners (around the edges for some; the ashikaga crest on the banner has been tweaked to fit better)
    -The map at the top-right of the screen that shows territorial divisions has some colour changes for a few clans. Two examples of numerous changes: the Imagawa's territory is colour-coded purple, and the Ikko-ikki red.
    -The European Traders are now known as Portugal throughout the game.

    Additionally, I intend to take down the screenshots .rar file linked in my original post. Some of it is outdated. However, there will still be examples. I intend to upload a collection of cropped screenshots that display the banner changes. I will take down that .rar file after I upload those new images.

    Mind if I ask the reason you changed European traders to Portugal?
    As long as I know, Portugal was not only country that established trade route to Japan.
    Nanban is usually a name for Catholic country or Portugal/Spain, and Koumou(means people with red hair)is name for Protestant country or English/Netherland.
    and I think S2TW's European traders may cover both of them, or just Nanban(most of things saying Nanban trade, so...)
    Nanban gave them a Matchlock, christianity, etc...and Koumou gave them western scholarship called Rangaku, including physics, anatomy and medicine.

    Hmm, I think I gotta use your MOD without Takeda's, since Furinkazan banner without black looks awful XP
    It's just like you cannot imagine Stars and Stripe without red and blue.
    I don't want lose my campaign progress,(well, Just like history, Uesugi, Oda and Tokugawa beating my butt up)so I'll try rest of them next time.

    May I suggest for Anton to move the aka "Changing Old Minors to New Minors like Anekagoji to Sanada mod" to compilations and overhaul.

    That way, this wont be mistaken as just another mere banner/visual overhaul, because not only does it change the visuals, but it also changes the clans itself. Well names at least.

    Also, it would mean more publicity and more views. We must spread the Sanada love on to them and proclaim, that your favourite non-represented clan* can now be possible. Thanks to Anton of course.


    *Kobayakawa, Katakura, Ishida, Akechi, Ii, Honda, Shibata, Toyotomi etc....

    (Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)

    For two reasons: I'm already using Portuguese visuals, and it gets a European clan into custom battles.

    And that's too bad . Fortunately for you I left the old Furinkazan mod up.

    I'll pester a moderator into moving this thread into the compilations/overhauls section.

    I'll also change the title of the mod to "Antons' Banner, Visual and Clan-swapping Overhaul". I'm figuring the whole new clans bit deserves to be noted in the title .

    In addition, I'm thinking of something. Something pretty cool. That something is adding whole new clans to the game. From what I have studied of the game files, I believe this is completely possible. The hardest bit would probably be getting them into the campaign. But I intend them to be mere clones of pre-existing minor clans. Take Saito for an example. I clone Saito, then change the original Saito entries to say 'Ishida,' 'Akechi,' 'Toyotomi' or something to that effect. We still have Saito, just as a non-campaign clan. By doing this, I completely avoid having to create and then implement a new clan, which promises to be loads more work (to the same ends I might add; we'll still have a non-campaign Saito and a re-named campaign clan).

    Ah! Another thing! Speaking of Saito, I'm thinking that the Akechi clan is an appropriate faction to introduce in its place. Annoyingly, the Akechi and Oda will be at war from turn one. Honnoji in 1545; as Rommel puts it: .

    Alright. After that freezing swim through 'Gameplay Tweaks' and treacherous pilgrimage over the mountains of 'Unit Packs and Stats' the thread has finally made its way to 'Compilations and Overhauls.'

    I have just completed work on v1.6's second clan overhaul: the Akechi-shi. Screenshots below.

    I was looking at just how easy 'easy' was in diplomacy. Turns out, very easy. As the Oda I could have gotten the Akechi to be my vassal without offering Nobunaga.



    Here is the Akechi banner on the campaign map. Its the same on the battlefield, so I didn't create such a screenshot. I just went ahead and made Mitsuhide daimyo even if that isn't the most appropriate. I think there are textures meant for Mitsuhide, so I will look at getting him his appropriate appearance soon


    Ok, so this isn't a good example of what will be in v1.6. These guys are just too blue. I didn't intend to make the armour blue, so that will be a unique shade of grey. The clothes and the circles on the uniform will be blue, though.

    I acknowledge lots of clans might not make the cut for clan replacements, mostly due to the ahistorical inclination or due to the irrelevant time period. I have, however, hammered out a way to add custom clans into the game that can be played in custom battles. I may not be able to fit a huge amount of new clans into the playable clans list due to limited space, so what I will do is make a separate mod for this so that there will be plenty of room. I'll make it compatible with the main ABVOM mod and all.

    Here is where I would like community input: what clans would you like to see in the game? Time period does not matter, although I would like to keep to the context of Japan.

    Edit: Hell, I might actually make general-specific armies (for the sake of appropriate labeling, they could be called clans) rather than clan-specific armies, for example: The Red Devils, "Uesugi; Naoe Kanetsugu" and so on. I suppose as long as a particular general has unique heraldry it can be made into a clan. I think this is a good way to expand on the heraldry of the game. You could play out 4v4 battles with numbers more relative to history with the variety of heraldry for each side. Pretty exciting stuff if I do say so myself.

    Yesterday I looked at the Shiina clan. I went so far as to ask over in the history section of the forum for more information. Thanks to 'hellheaven1987' (info here) I was able to get enough information to get me going on new change: swapping the Jinbo clan for the Shiina clan. After all, the Shiina won at Imizu . These guys are sadly not as acclaimed as clans such as the Oda, Takeda, Uesugi, Tokugawa, and so on, so lengthy information and vast heraldry sources for them are pretty much non-existent.

    I could only find low resolution images, but that was dealt with. Then I had to choose a banner background colour for the sake of differentiation. At first I was going to go with green, then a much lighter green, but then I tested a light blue and that looked both good and unique.

    If I get my hands on better examples of Shiina heraldry, I will definitely make a more appropriate version, but for now this'll hold. I still need to create their three crests and make some text tweaks regarding clan and daimyo name (YASUTANE!).

    Is this mod compatible with All Clans playable? I'd like to use your new minor clans if Possible o.o. If not, would be you be able to make a mod that makes using your new minor clans possible??

    Also any known Major mod Incompatibilities like with Radious? Would just want to know so I won't have any conflicts using your mod, it looks awesome!

    This is compatible with the 'All Clans Playable' mod. There is something that may, for some, cause a bit of confusion. I have replaced the names, banners and other visuals of clans, but I have not changed how they are referred in the data files.

    Now, to the point. Considering the above... keep in mind that using the:
    -Urakami pack file will allow you to play as the Ukita clan.
    -Mogami pack file will let you play as the Date,
    -Hatano pack file will let you play as the Hosokawa,
    -Bessho pack file will let you play as the Kuroda.

    In version v1.6 of this mod (the banner/visual/clan overhaul mod), the following clans and possibly more should be considered:
    -the Saito pack file will let you play as the Akechi,
    -the Anegakoji pack file will let you play as the Sanada,
    -the Jinbo pack file will let you play as the Shiina.

    Personally, I didn't really have much care for playing as any of these, but now, I'm going to play the hell out of the Akechi and Sanada once I'm done with the Ukita. On an unrelated note, THE HATAKEYAMA KILLED NAOIE! I promptly wiped out their clan in sheer anger.

    Now to note a few mods that are either compatible or not compatible. There isn't many I know for sure as I have no need to keep track of many of them. A decent rule of thumb is that if it is a visual mod, it is very possible there will be a conflict. If it is strictly stat-based, like DarthMod, then there should not be a problem.

    Compatible:
    -Any Radious mod that is not the 'Recolour Mod'.
    -The main DarthMod pack file. The optional files he provides may conflict.
    -(This should be alright on its own) AUM units.
    -(Possibly) Unit Variety Mod. I need to check, but I looked through the pack file and there doesn't seem to be any overlapping areas.

    Non-compatible:
    -Demokritos' ACC. I have been intending to do a merger, but the thing is that once I have done what I wanted, most of Demokritos' work would have been overwritten. I have permission to use his work, so what I might do soon is copy over the RGB values, then change them if my own work calls for it. Any clan that I did not change would have the ACC values. Cool?


    I am also interested in getting some custom icons done. Thing is, I would never be pleased with any work I do. Not sure what I'll do there, but just to note, I'm thinking about it.

    Last little thing before I go to sleep. I'll get more work done tomorrow (well... later today) and take some time to clear the 'Lonesome Roads' dlc well before my 25th deadline.

    Back to the point. Here are a few screenshots.

    The first turn of my Sanada campaign. Note the names of the two generals.


    The Shiina army on the battlefield. I have used a fairly light theme.

    The Akechi are fairly darker, especially when it comes to armour.

    The Ukita changes make them dark, far moreso than the Akechi.

    Hope you like 'em.
