This is possibly being caused by a lack of updates. Fully update your game - Steam should download them automatically unless you tell it not to - and you shouldn't have crashes. If, after updating, you still have crashes, then try checking your game cache (in your steam library, right click on "Total War: SHOGUN 2", select properties, click on the 'local files' tab and click on 'verify integrity of game cache'; do this until no errors are reported) or see if you forgot to delete a user script or something.

Thank You for your help Anton im updating it now![]()
No problems, mate.
-------
I have a bit of an announcement regarding the upcoming v1.8 (don't worry, it won't be out for a few weeks). It will be a much bigger update than any update I have provided for the mod thus far!
I acknowledge that I may not be able find a suitable banner alternative for each and every clan in the standard campaign. For this reason, I am combining two ideas to form the following idea. In v1.8, all banners in the original campaign will have a new banner, compromising of a colour swap between the crest and banner background colours and the banners will be 16 times bigger (each banner will be 1024 x 1024 instead of 256 x 256). This should revolutionize diversity in the campaign. But I'm not stopping there. I am going to make sure that every clan has new crests, sashimonos and soldier colours appropriate to the banner changes. Bear in mind that these new high quality banners will also apply to banners I have already done; I may make a new version of some. Also, for some clans that have a black-and-white colour scheme I will look to avoid the spamming of black background banners. I'll see what I can do there.
The second major addition will be increased support for ROTS. My main focus is the standard campaign, so I won't be overhauling every ROTS banner just yet. I will, however, replace the major faction's banners to the 1024 x 1024 banner resolution. I'll make note of further ROTS changes if I intend to make them.
The third major addition is images. Part of this will be event images (I have started work on this but haven't gotten around to adding it to the mod), but I will also change numerous other images throughout the game. I'll post some examples in the near future.
I will also be looking to add more custom clans for custom battles, new units (including but not limited to a unique general for each of the sengoku clans) and most likely much, much more!
My intention regarding updates is to update less frequently but put more content into every update. I am very happy to hear some feedback here. If you have an idea of something you would like to see in the mod, I will seriously consider it. If you think your own mod fits into my mod well, just like AndyTotalWar's agent and resource icons do, then let me know and, again, I will seriously consider it!

Thank you for your teaching for my avatar. It is Takeda Shingen from Taiga, Takeda Shingen(1988).
Basic model of noble-looking Shingen in red armour, Ruthless and somewhat angry Nobunaga and Kenshin having Thick eyebrow in S2TW are all from this Taiga.
I admire your effort. Thank you so much!
I have to watch more Taiga dramas. I thoroughly enjoyed tenchijin. It's easy to develop a strong respect for Kanetsugu, I found.
On a more relevant note, I have posted three example images for the Furinkazan banner/Takeda sashimono colour and sashimono crest changes for the Buddhist and Christian rebels.
Well, off to have dinner.
Well, Taiga drama sucks these day. it is full with fancy romance and humanitarism that never existed in Sengoku Era.
I watched Tenchijin until 20th episode and quit, because it was so silly. Main Character, Naoe Kanetsugu was cunning politician-not youngster filled with sense of justice and humanitarism.
Lot of latest Taiga drama describing Sengoku era as time filled with love and merriment, which was filled with blood, politics and betreyal in truth.
I recommend more older ones, such as Ten to chi to(Heaven and Earth in Bushido Arts came from this), Takeda Shingen(most of S2TW daimyo model came from it).
You can see more sophisticated conflicts and characters. And first of all, it's full of historical detail you can get information from.
Fair enough. I hope to have a look at some of the older stuff soon!
I am making use of my reserved post for some beta files. Things seem slower so I wanted to release some individual beta work before the respective release. I'll add and delete the files as new versions become available.
V1.2 released. Additions are as follows:
New banners:
-The Ikko-ikki now have a sotoba on their new banner with gold and red colours.
-The Portugese now have a more lively banner, based on the colours of today's Portugese banner (I made this for Radious' and my re-colouring mod, found here)
-The Takeda have an alternate Furinkazan banner, this time being red with the same gold lettering. This helps it fit in with other colour-related aspects of the game.
Sashimono crests:
-The Buddhist and Christian rebels have custom crests
Sashimono colours:
-This covers new colours, colours that have been tweaked and imported RGB values from Demokritos' ACC modification (see 'credits' for a link to his mod). Specific changes are as follows:
---The Takeda and Tokugawa use Demokritos' ACC colours
---The Ikko-ikki, Buddhist Rebels, Ashikaga, Kiso, Mori, Murakami, Otomo, Ouchi, Shimazu, Portugal and Yamanouchi have colour tweaks that make their sashimono more relative to their respective clan banners.
New icon colourings:
-The Ikko-ikki sotoba doesn't exactly fit a circular image, so I applied the same gold and red colourings to their mon until I think of or come across something more appropriate. Because I plan to release a different crest, I removed my custom clan selection and effect buttons for the Ikko-ikki, so those will be the most recent vanilla versions.
And to make the download as small as possible, I no longer neglect compressing the pack file as much as possible, so now it's at a nice ~1mb.
Enjoy!

A general banners editing question....
What compression / file type are you using for dds images? I think banners in game are DXT1 but sometimes during editing I'm seeing nasty compression and loss of detail when I do it? Is there a better setting I can use?
In Photoshop using the DDS plug-in, the setting CA seems to have used is "DXT1, RGB, 4dpp, no alpha". This assumption is based on the file size following compression, and of course due to the fact it works with very little compression difference to that of the vanilla banners.
I can't say much more, because I don't know the situation in which you are modding. Good luck.

Hello Anton,
just want to give you some info concerning the Portuguese, our current flag colors (red and green) were adopted when we changed to a Republican government, it was blue and white before, but mostly white by the time of contact with Japan I think.
As you can see here:
http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolu%C...al_de_Portugal
I sugest white with red secondary color if needed.
Thanks for bring this up. I have a further inquiry:
http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficheir...%281521%29.svg
Basically, there's two main banner-related visuals I'm inclined to change for Portugal: the larger banners and the sashimono/nobori-styled banner. For the big banner, I have as much colour flexibility as I want, but am limited in size to something like 100x256 or around that. The sashimono, however, is, at the moment, limited to a single crest using a single colour in combination with a single-coloured background.
The Portugese crest in that 1521 flag linked above reflects a prominence of red in the crest, and, for the background, a white. Considering sashimono constraints, I am forced to use two colours; these may be those colours. I would like your considerations on that.
Also, I will use an adapted version of that flag for the main banner. Do you have any additional information you think would be relevant?
I'd love your considerations on the matter. I acknowledge that having any Portugese crest on a Japanese banner strays into the ahistorical, but with the game limitations and current understanding, I can't do much other than adapt to them. I could probably go away and apply this new information, but I'll wait to see what your response is. Your input is already helpful and hopefully there will be more to come!

Thank you for the interest, I'll do what I can to help
I installed today Radious Recolour done with your cooperation and I have to say its really cool!
before you follow my advice, please note I am no history expert, I know a bit of my nation's history as you probably know about yours.
The colors: the blue and white were more present in the early and later days of the monarchy, but the blue seems to have been less used around the age of discovery, when the red Christian cross was more seen in shields, sails etc., we still use it in our air force insignia. So I think red should be used on a white background, yes.
The crest: the one you showed me is still used in our present flag (except the crown), in those days there were some variations, so I believe its acceptable to use the crest without the crown (just the shield).
Problem: the game's sashimono is limited to a single color crest as you say, but the Portuguese crest should require at least 3 colors over white background (2 if using low detail and the yellow castles were left out). I think it would be unacceptable to change that crest to only use red over white, so instead I think a good choise would be the red cross, this one:
http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficheir...CristCross.svg
Always eager to learn, and thanks for your interest in the re-colour mod.
Alright, so:
-For the banner, the Portuguese shield retaining the same colours, but without the crown with a white background
-For the sashimono, the Portugese order of christ emblem with a red colour and white background
I agree that the Portuguese shield should not be broken down, so for the sake of you and Portugal, I'll make these changes. I'll re-release the beta in the next few days, as I am committing to the banners for "Radious' and Anton's Re-colour Mod".
Your help will not go forgotten, as I am crediting you in my first post. Thanks for the help!![]()
Thanks! thats great, glad to help
looking forward to seeing those changes!
Looks excellent Anton!
Is this going into your colaboration with Radious mod too?
I only play campaign mode, but it would be nice to see a mod that added a bigger Portuguese presence besides the ocasional Black ship, even if not really historical, perhaps a stack of Portuguese troops that would be fixed in the vicinity of a Nanban Quarter when one is built, allied to the clan that controls it, preventing raids and reinforcements if a battle is fought in the area. Dont know if something like that is modable, but it would surely be cool!
Not sure about that. And regarding the Portuguese troops, I suppose its possible, but a clear way of how to do that doesn't come to mind, so I'd have to study the game files a bit more to see if there's a way for that.
As a general note to everyone, I'm rushing out a v1.25 that fixes a little problem with using the standard rebels and wako pirates in custom battles. I pretty much told the game to make available the wrong variants, which, due to the fact there are no appropriate game files for those variants, the game will crash when trying to play with them.
On the brighter side of things, since I'm happy with the Portuguese beta content, I'll be including that in the main mod as of v1.25!
