    Default Villa Sertoria

Located on the Esquiline Hill, the Sertorian villa is a somewhat modest residence for a Roman Senator. With a spacious and relatively undecorated courtyard, it has more in common with a countryside estate than the luxurious residences of many other people of Laretensis's political stature and wealth. This contributes to his reputation as somewhat of a "country bumpkin" to his colleagues, even though he is a moderately affluent patrician, and owns many bountiful estates.

    Biography
Proculus Sertorius Laterensis is a member of the undistinguished ex-socii Sabine gens Sertoria, and son to a reputably wealthy father in the Sabine village Nursia. After marrying into a wealthy patrician family, he entered the mainstream Roman politics. He is a relative newcomer in Roman city politics, having acquired some reputation as a skilled jurist and as an orator.

Laterensis is seen as level-headed, merciful, and kind but stern to his friends and to those who do him favors. Despite this, he is somewhat manipulative, and is not unwilling to use deceit and misdirection to accomplish his goals. While Laterensis professes to be of democratic tendencies, he strongly opposes the blindly populist factions of the senate, because he is afraid of their harshness , and fears that they will throw everything into confusion by a passion which knows no limits, and exceed the bounds of justice in the hour of victory. While he disagrees on many political points with the old-guard, he finds much stronger moral and social connection with them.
