Default Ron Paul gets shut out by the media

He came in second in the Ames poll, yet nary a peep. The Daily Show did a great segment on it. It's like the mainstream news, especially FOX, is doing everything they can to avoid mentioning him.

He's polling better than many of the other candidates, yet gets much less coverage than those behind him in the polls.

Really makes you wonder how much influence the media does have in helping to push the candidates they want.

Personally, I think it is because of Paul's fact-based viewpoints on such things as the Military Industrial Complex and foreign policy, not to mention some social issues, that he was completely ignored by FOX News.

Definitely reinforces my viewpoint that our corporate media is hurting our democracy.

Well, ron paul hasnt always voted with the party line nor does he follow, but he kinda follows his own libertarian values and stuff with remarkable discipline

Ron paul represents something quite different from the main republican party line and is not a a talking point machine that will say whatever the party wants so he is viewed as a threat. Thus the republicans wish to shut him out with the media

That being said, what would be even worse for the republicans and for the two party system is to have ron paul run as an Independent and basically be ross perot 2.0

True, because Ron Paul is generally more conservative than mainstream Republican, which irritates many, especially when Ron Paul denounce Bush as a traitor to Conservatism.

Yep looks like some people want to avoid many to believe that Ron can actually be elected.

Very interesting indeed, since he seems to poll so well with grassroots conservatives.

someone, i assume a ron paul supporter, recorded this off CNN.

It's not weird at all, really.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.

This has been happening to Ron Paul for years, especially in the last campaign cycle. FOX ignores the hell out of him, which I would contribute to his relatively off-base stance on many, many conservative issues. The people who seem to get the most air-time, and coverage, on FOX are those that spout (tired) party lines and talking points on every issue.

Guys, he was interviewed by Piers Morgan today. And came off full of nothing but Rhetoric and bragging.

He comes off as a man who thinks all government does is restrict the liberty of everyone, that everyone in Washington is an extremist, who wants to choke out all government, and among other things, is a tad touched in the head. I was neutral towards him originally, but the more and more I hear words come out of his mouth, the more I really don't like him.

Well the Federal Government is sure as hell is giving us liberty, and all that Washington has to do is slowly and progressively wear away our freedoms. It's like that old saying that if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water he will jump out, but if you put him in lukewarm water and then raise the temperature to a boil he won't leave and will get cooked. We are that frog. And yes he is pretty damn Anti-Federalist.

    EDIT:
He is naive in the matter that he thinks everyone knows what's best for them. Believe me, I've seen idiots who ruin their lives just because of drugs. And they never recover.
And they did it while the drugs were completely illegal, the law didn't stop them from being ups. If a person wants to mess up that is their right. They have a right to or not-to do what they want. For example, many people of age don't drink for various reasons, while many underage do even though its illegal. Having a law there does nothing but limit our rights as individuals. And as for drugs people like you and me don't do them because we choose not to, whether they be legal or illegal. But many people just don't give a . Why not just let them have the right to do what they like. At least they aren't driven to the fringe of our society and can be delt with accordingly.

While I disagree with such things as the pat downs at airports, and the Patriot Act, otherwise our rights aren't being eroded. The day those things are outlawed, will be a happy day. But otherwise I don't know off the top of my head of examples of our rights being eroded.

    This.

It's a shame the media sweeps politicians under the rug that think differently.

I honestly wouldn't mind having him as the next president in 2012, assuming Obama becomes a one-term president. Just about every republican and democrat in the House and Senate are the same. Same deal with those who are/are considering running for the presidency. Considering how disastrous the past decade has been, I think the last thing we need is more of the same.

Seeing him mention god every other sentence really makes me not want to vote for him, but seeing as I'm not a registered Republican I can't vote in the primaries anyways.

@ BorderControl-- It depends on you're state. Some states have open primaries (Everyone can vote) or Closed primaries (Only R's).

    ---
And I think it is atrocious how the media is completely sidelining him. I'm relatively conservative and I think Fox is being a bunch of ing douchebags. They should be giving him as much coverage as the rest of the ups who are running for the republican nomination. Especially since he is polling at number 3 or 4 of the candidates. He is the man for social liberties minus abortion(which he explained in the Piers Morgan interview). Honestly if I were a liberal I would be going ape for RP, if he won the primary he would push obama on his foreign policy and civil liberties.

---If you couldn't tell I'm a major RP fan, I got into an argument with my Grandfather because he was rooting for ing Santorum(aka the biggest douche around).
