    Default LYING REPLAYS!

So I played a custom battle against the computer, won the battle, and saved the battle. When I played the replay back, aside from the opening part, the replay shows a different battle in which the AI wins....anyone know why this happens?

Before you say, it is the right replay since its the only 1 i saved.

    Thanks in advance for help,
    Leving

Well replays are nothing but automated saved battle event scripts they don't exactly save the actual video otherwise the file size of the replay would've been enormous. I have seen different things that would be not totally identical but never saw that victory conditions were being reversed. Could be a glitch, it happens a lot like one time i got a tsunami lol:

Many weird things can happen but I have never seen a tsunami so far in custom battle replays. I expect it was modded but only a small exageration nonetheless.

Leving, my advice is that you wait and do not touch anything once you have asked for a replay. Do not start playing around with the keyboard and mouse until the deployment phase has ended. Then I reckon there is an 80% chance or so that the battle will proceed as you remember it.

Other advice I have is that you save the army and battle before you start the custom battle and that afterwards you save the battle a couple of times, not just once! If one save becomes corrupted, you can open the next one and hope for more luck.

It is actually very accurate when that happens and it is almost miraculous considering only commands are saved. Campaign battle replays, however, never work for me. They always crash at the end of the deployment phase - and this has been the experience of others (but not of everyone).

Yeah, one time in an SS custom battle, I got half to 3/4 a unit of elephants wiped out by some Dvor cavalry or something, but in the replay, the elephants won. It was kind of weird because that wasn't the entire battle and the eles acted like they were smaller than they were (more cautious).

I've never seen a tsunami period.

As I said above, when custom battle replays work, they are completely accurate. For example in this video which I have posted in my videos page http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=452114 and which was made using a custom battle replay, the Mongol siege engines were destroyed at exactly the same point in time every time in the same way. Of course, all other events happened in exactly the same time every time. It was like travelling back with a time machine. It is incredible that this is possible when only commands are being saved. Unlike with Fraps, you could wander around the battlefield and see what was happening somewhere else at any time and zoom into the action again and again. Even some of the duels on the ramparts were exactly the same whenever I ran the replay. It was as if time had crystallised.

Happened to me as well. Played an epic siege against a friend and humiliated him only to discover that the replay I was trying to show to other people showed a different battle.

That seems to only happen in stainless steel for me, but works fine in the original game.

It's a bug we will fix it.
