Default Choosing a Faction for a full playthrough

I Can't seem to stick with a faction to play as because I always get bored and want to switch ti a different faction I'm saving Mordor for 3.0 but I just don't know who I want to stick a full playthrough with. as I only have a limited playing time a day I want to stop wasting my time only getting to turn 50 and then switching . So far I've had the most fun with the dwarves but I'd like to hear your guys opinions before I try again -thanks

I played Rohan the only time I've not forsaken my campaign before round 100, but I wouldn't recomend it. Their infantry is weak and their cavalry is just average in my opinion.
Yea I know the name is terrible, but it's not really finished.

I find the dwarves extremely fun to play and once you get the guards of khazad-dum and get an army with at least 3 of them you become almost unbeatable in a melee and archers can't do much against them (Besides Elven archers).

I don't see how they could harm them with those 150x100cm shields

aye, dale. Facing rhun can be a challenge (but reminds me of the fights in vanilla), but once you beat those dragon-lovers back, theres no stopping the mighty dalesmen!

    Silvan has an interesting campaign:
You have to compete with Dale in taking wood settlements, you have to fight against OoM and Mordor, then gundabad and Saruman, and often Rhűn when on the way to Mordor plains.
BUT you have to wait very long for getting your heavy troops (far more than high Elves as Silvan has a tougher economy), so you could find this less fun; once you have Ents and heavy troops, the game becomes easy and maybe less fun in the reverse way.

Try Eriador. It has a lot of rebel settlements hanging around which gives a hectic beginning. From there you have a choice of attacking Isengard, Orcs of Gundabad or OoMM. By the time you get bored with this faction you get to reemerge Arnor and receive better looking units.
You get to play two different factions without stopping the campaign.

Dale is the hardest faction in TA imho. You should try it. It may be a challenge but it is definitely not boring
"When your opponent fears you, then's the moment when you give the fear its own rein, give it the time to work on him. Let it become terror. The terrified man fights himself. Eventually, he attacks in desperation. That is the most dangerous moment, but the terrified man can be trusted usually to make a fatal mistake."

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Dale is cool, but it is also hard to stand against Rhun, if you try them, forge alliances with the Silvan Elves, the Dwarves and Gondor, trust me, you will need them

Playing Eriador is also fun, but Aragorn is their king, and I hate him

bridge slaughter is my favourite total war past-time, especially against gigantic orc armies which I can burn to a crisp with catapults. Still each to their own I guess.

On the other hand, if I could not force them into bridge chokepoints and had to manually grind their armies down in field battles/sieges it would get boring quickly. In 2.0 Harad rarely attacks barad harn, meaning I can send an expeditionary army across at will to bait their lazy stacks into a bridge fight. I can also force mordor to attack me on the osgilliath bridge by blocking the cair andros access points with infantry units.

rohan is very easy. eriador always was quite inteesting to play. but when it becomes arnor it sucks cuz there is still banner of eriador everywhere.

I'm in the same boat as OP, but more because I can't grasp the factions tactical/strategic strengths and weaknesses.

For example, Rohan is clearly cavalry armies and the Silvans are clearly archers.

But what is typical composition for Dale? or what's the difference between Isengard, Mordor, Gundabad, and OOTMM? Are Dwarves just short Norse?

I should probably load each up to get a sense for them, but it seems like it takes quite a few turns to get into each faction's stride.
