    Default Weird unit cards

Hi, I'm playing as the Byzantines and Im just wondering why the unit cards look like animations out of the 1980s?

Anyone else have this issue? Its just annoying constantly having to look at a bunch of coloured in ciricles and squares that are meant to be soldiers.

Before everyone cries out 'TURN UP YOUR GRAPHICS' I did - although never had this issue with other mods!

    Thanks,
    Leving.

Can you give us a screenshot please?

Also when playing as the Crusader states, Jerusalem and Antioch appear to look like Northern European cities.

    I'm pretty sure that's intentional...

    Here are the images;

This is Byzantine Unit roster. As you can see, the resolution of the unit cards is quite bad - in my opinion anyway. Just seems weird to have spent so long and done so well in making a beautifully presented game with new loading screens, campaign map and city models and then have image cards like this. Usually unit cards look better than this.

By comparison with another mod...(Chivalry II SV)

The Crusader states seem to have slightly better image cards however, as you can see on the spearmen, some ps work has made them look alot neater.

    I'm pretty sure that's intentional..
I always thought that it would look Middle Eastern since thats where it is - its not as if the Latins raised the city and rebuilt it. I think its just because the game attaches city art to factions - and the Crusaders will be down as European. Not a big deal just saying - would be nice to change it. Just seems odd that Jerusalem would look like Paris or London - detracts from the asthetic experience in my opinion. Just looks out of place so to speak.

I may be nitpicking, but like I said, seems odd to have put so much effort into more external art, such as loading screens, but neglected this area.

I don't think its a bad install, I guess I just dont like them, inwhich case I was wondering if there was a submod or something that could address the issue?
    Thanks all for replying

This screenshot is taken from another mod which I have played, Chivalry II, Sicillian Vespers. As you can see, the units look much better. Stainless Steel uses some of the same units as Chivalry II, and yet the unit cards look much better for that mod.

You will notice, for example, the resolution and presentation of the red horseman (third line) is much better in this screenshot than in the SS screenshot.

I concur can you take a screenshot so we know what you're talking about? It's a bit hard to tell if there is something wrong with your install or if they do look normal and you just dont like them

What resolution are you running the game at? And is it running at the same resolution as your desktop?

    Both are at 1024x768.

I'm also suprised at the resolution of armies on the campaign map...they are also quite simple looking compared even to stock ME2 TW.

I assume since you asked for my resolution, you think the unit cards look bad also?

Actually I dont (despite the fact that you seem to like the unit cards that I made for those units over the ones included in SS ). I'm wondering if it's just the fact that you're only running at 1024x768 and those new unit card are taken much closer is making them look more pixellated on your screen.

Well I tried to increase the resolution but it wouldn't let me. Ill try changing my desktop resolution first then see if it will let me increase it in game.

I was looking at other peoples screenshots, and their unit cards seem fine (perhaps using an earlier version of the mod?)

Though the armies on the campaign map look awful for me it has to be said...which again is weird. Maybe Ive just gotten to used to playing mods where massive attention to detail has been paid to such things...but then again these look worse than vanilla...almost like they changed them for the sake of changing them rather than to make them look better.

If you look at the unit cards for the Byzantine army in this AAR, you will see they look much better than the ones Im using.

I never had this problem before, my res should be fine to play the game - though for some reason I can't increase it.

I think it's your low resolution that isn't helping things. That or it's just your opinion that they look bad . If you want, go to the submod forum and download the Basiliea Ton Romaion submod. Run the installer and point it to a non-M2TW folder. Go into that folder and copy across the unit cards in data\ui\units into your SS6.4 installation.

This mod looks great, I assume its 6.4 compatiable?

Also, should I be following the instructions listed on the submod, which tell me to point at ME2 TW folder, or should I do what you said and point it somewhere else?

Do what I said here as you aren't actually installing the submod, just using some files from it.

Well looking at it, I think I will install all of it. Clearly like you, I'm a bit of Byzantine lover, and I like the other features that you listed there - so as long as it works with 6.4 Ill give it a shot.

It doesn't. That's why I said not to actually install it. You'll have to install SS6.1 first. Dont worry you can have 6.1 and 6.4 installed at the same time as they run from different mod folders.

I think it's just the taste...because I prefer SS unit cards over Chivalry
