I, Claudius

I have never seen it before, planning on buying it. Is it really that good as the reviews say it is??

Just got it a couple of days ago on DVD...
I got to say that I was really impressed by how they portraied especially the emperors... The actors were good and I never felt like "meh this is boring" instead I was more or less glued to the screen! If you want to see a quite accurate portrail of roman politics you should definently buy it! I especially liked the part when they got the news of the disaster at the Teutoburger Forest and when Claudius first heard about Jesus.

And....It doesnt feel old, as one might expect, but just dont expect any great battle scenes( or any battle scenes at all).....

If you want an accurate film about a Roman Emperor...get "Caligula". :wicked

So, where can I get this thing on DVD? Haven't seen anywhere near me.

I saw the dvd and got so hooked I watched all episodes at once. Valus sums it all up nicely

"I, Claudius" is brilliant. If you expect Hollywood action and battle scenes, you'll be disappointed. But if you appreciate superb acting and political intrigues on the higher levels with humour, you'll love it.

It always puts a smile on my face when I think of John Hurt's Caligula - "I'm very fond of my family... Generally speaking!"

I, Claudius is one of the best dramas you could possibly see. I have it on DVD (it was one of the first that I bought) and it is thee definitive Roman drama, for my money. Love it, loveit, love it.

Claudius' portrayal by Derek Jacobi was sublime. Actually they all were.

An excellent series, I saw it twice in school, wonderful. Derek Jacobi is, as imb says, sublime. Get it and watch it, and you will agree.

I bought it and saw it.... it was the best I have ever seen... at first it was little slow but it got better and better... I really liked it.

You can't go wrong, just don't expect a big Hollywood production like "Gladiator"
