    The (more) Brutal Battle Mod!

    Hello, I have been taking a break from SS and Medieval 2 in general (heresy, I know) and I just jumped back in with the 'The Last Kingdom' mod. If any of you have played that gem you will know that battles take considerable more time than in vanilla or even stainless steel because of unit stat changes.

    UPDATED!!!

    This latest version does not increase every units defense by 10, it instead adds half the value of each unit's defense skill. So if a knight has 10 defense he will now have 15 and so on and so forth. For the units that I had to round the value up or down, it all depends on the quality of the unit in question, so I would round up for elite units and round down for peasants and militia.

    Installation: Backup your export_descr_unit.txt and put it in a safe place you will remember. Then either cut it out or delete it from the SS 6.3 data folder. Then place this one with the modified stats in there in its stead.

    BEWARNED: I have only tested this with a clean install of SS 6.3 with the 6.4 patch applied!!!!!!!!!

    I had a similar idea. I thought of increasing every unit's defense skill according to their class and quality.
    6 for peasants, 8 for militia, 10 early prof and so on.
    10 for everyone just makes knights less valuable.

    ^ exactly.
    If peasants have 0 skill and dismounted knights, lets say 10, and if you increase those numbers to 10 and 20, you've decreased knights efficiency against peasants by 50 %. You should have worked with percentiges istead just adding a 10 to skill to all units.

    Hmmm this is a much better idea! what are all the classes of units? is there a list somewhere?

    Ah found it, thanks for the info

    Ok so by the looks of it these are the types units and the amount of defense skill I'm thinking about adding (from lowest quality to highest):

    Rural Levy +4

    Rural Militia +5

    Urban Militia +6

    Professional (early and late) +7

    Elite troops (such as knights) +8

    Bodyguards (Maybe) +10

    But then there's the Feudal and Local (longbowmen, etc.) class of units and I'm quite unsure how to implement them into this system.

    Look up their price and upkeep and compare them to the other units.
