    Master of the House (Bio)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Lucius Titus Regulus

A son of the deceased Senator, Antonius Regulus and grandson of the famous Marius Regulus as well as the descendant of Consul Marcus Atilius Regulus, a general of the First Punic War, Lucius retired from the military as a Legate at the age of 30 in order to handle the estates left by his father. A few years later, Lucius would be asked to join the Senate in honor of his father’s legacy.

A veteran from the Balkans, Lucius, age 37, is known for his brilliant genius and quick thinking. People see him as a rather cold-hearted strategist when it comes to the military, but in the political life, Lucius serves Rome and her people as a whole. As a citizen of Rome, Lucius values loyalty, dedication and determination within those of the older senators, but also the newer generations. Though he is a respected man, the Senator has a weakness for the bottle and can be found at times being drunk. He is also known to have a quick and lasting temper. Lucius views opinions with value, shows opposition its due respect…or hostility and treats his closest associates and allies with generosity and high opinion.

Titus is of average height for most Romans. His eyes are veteran and sharp, making his gaze seem intimidating. His black hair is curly and average length. His skin is rather pale, but the rest of his physical features show his earlier career in the military...from broad shoulders to athletic legs.

    Valeria Regulus: Age 35

A beautiful and caring mother who was the daughter of a Greek nobleman who was an associate of Lucius's father. She was married to the young Legate, not only because Valeria was in love with Lucius, but as a payment for a loan that the minor politician owed to Antonius Regulus, Lucius's father.

    Caelinus Regulus

The elder child of Cornelia and Lucius, Caelinus was born only a year after the marriage of his parents. Though only 19 years old, Caelinus shows promise as a future military commander. The young man spends his free time reading military manuals and also at parties with his parents. Caelinus is currently stationed in Northern Italy, going through his military training.

    Flavia Regulus

The second child of the Regulus family, Flavia has her mother's beauty, but has her father's brains. She is a rather bright and brilliant young lady for her age (16). She mostly is seen with her mother at parties and at the villa. In her free time, Flavia writes poetry and reads classic manuals on astronomy and poetry.

It was a rather bright day at the Villa. Lucius sat outside on the Villa's main balcony, shaded by curtains and Latin trees. His hand held a wine glass, sipping the fine texture that was imported from Sicily...one of the many bottles left behind in the storage by his father, Antonius Regulus. The young man wore a traditional white tunic with a red sash that ran diagonally across his chest and around his waist.

Nearby, Flavia and her mother, Valeria are reading. Valeria was teaching her daughter the poetry of the esteemed Publius Terentius Varro Atacinus and one of his famous poems, Bellum Sequanicum. The family was eagerly awaiting the temporary return of Lucius's sons, Caelinus, who was in training to become a Legionnaire of Rome. Caelinus was making his father very proud, knowing that the boy was had the potential of becoming a promising military commander.

Lucius smiled at his beloved wife and literate daughter, before watching the servants reap the fields. Then his eyes gazed at the city of Rome, only a mile away. The sprawling beauty of it's grand glory was magnificent to behold, especially on such a clear day as this one. The former Legate sighed lightly and sipped his wine once more, wondering what may happen today...if anything.

Night fell upon the Regulus Estate, Lucius sat outside at their dinner table, eating with his family. It seemed Caelinus was to be delayed another day from returning from Ravenna. They enjoyed a rather quiet dinner as usual...Caelinus was not only a promising soldier, but always kept the atmosphere up. It could make anyone laugh, even the hardest of politicians.

Late that night on the balcony, Lucius and Valeria enjoyed listening to Flavia's lyre playing. She had been practicing a lot...Valeria praised her daughter about her talents in the arts of poetry and music. Lucius was proud for his daughter's talents, listening to how she played the lyre. The hours of personal practice really worked out.

Do you plan to play a song for when Caelinus returns, Flavia?

Flavia would stop playing and nods. She points to her mother.

Mother is teaching me one of your favorite songs. Its one that you enjoyed when stationed in Greece, Father.

Lucius would laugh heartily and smiles at his wife. She knew their son very well, wanting to have a military career like his father and achieve even greater! They would then all fall silent and listen to Flavia's music as she made a relaxed atmosphere.

The morning arrived and Lucius was already dressing for the session in the Curia. His daughter, Flavia was sleeping in while his wife was awake, tending to her small batch of flowers. Only of her few hobbies that Valeria enjoyed doing. Lucius put on a purple sash today for his visit to the Senate and wore the appropriate clothing for the Senate. A servant gave him a message from Ravenna...Caelinus was coming up today and would be home around dinner time to be with the family. Lucius smiled and set the scroll aside for his wife to read. Lucius then walked out of his villa and headed into Rome and the Curia within.

Valeria looks up from her flowers, noticing a trio of men. She washes her hands quickly and walks down the stairs from the entry, approaching the leading Senator.

Welcome, you must be here to see my husband. Follow me.

Valeria motions the men to follow to where Lucius was...he was in the back, sitting down with his son, Caelinus was arrayed in sparkling new Legionnaire armor...fresh from his training in Ravenna. The two were sharing a drink and some bread. Valeria brings the men in. Lucius notices the Senator named Quintus. Lucius stands up as well as Caelinus, who bows to the Senator.

Senator Quintus, this is a surprise. What brings you to my estate? Might I offer you a drink? This is my son, Caelinus. And you have met my wife Valeria it seems.

    Quintis smiled.

"Well Senator the election season is looming and I would like your to support my run for the Consulship, I think that the two sitting Consuls have held powers to long and done nothing of note with it."

Lucius blinked. He nodded to his wife and son. They respectively retreated from this conversation, leaving Lucius and Quintus alone. He poured a glass of wine, offering it to Quintus.

I can agree with matter on Consul Decimus...Consul Severus seems to be pulling much weight compared to Decimus. I shall agree though that a new Consul if not Consuls will be needed in such evolving times for the Republic.

Lucius sips his glass lightly and ponders some more, then looks back at Quintus.

I will support you...however...how shall I benefit from supporting you, Quintus? I am interested in the pros for supporting your run for Consul.

"I agree with your assessment of Severus and with the military victories he has won under his belt he is almost unbeatable. Furthermore I think it is very dangerous to have our Consuls sitting to long and I have plans to institute a three term maximum and then two years wait before running for Consul when Decimus will not use his veto to hold onto his power. As for how it would benefit you, is there any position you wish to be elected to? Since as a Praetor my support would mean a lot and I also believe that I could convince my allies to vote for you as well.

I can agree upon the views of leaving men in power for too long.

Lucius strokes his chin lightly. He thought of what position he would desire.

I have thought of the position of Praetor...my father expressed my talents within the military, especially with my experience as a Legate in the Balkans. However, if that position is already in favor of someone else...I will look for a position as a Tribune.

" Aulius fiber has already expressed interest in the position I will leave behind and I hope to be able to count upon Praetor Felix as an ally, as for the tribune election that would probably not be a problem since both our Tribunes have not done much at all and it is easier to remain active when in Rome rather than being in some backwater provinces."

I understand. If Aulus should not continue on aiming for Praetor, however...I will gladly wish for support in gaining that position. If not, Tribune will at least help me start with moving up the ranks.

    Lucius holds his hand out.

I agree with the deal. I believe some of the proposals presented to the Senate are ridiculous and only serve to better personal gains at time...with the power of the Tribune, I shall do my utmost best to succeed in my duty. As well as ensure that unnecessary bills never make it past the walls of the Senate.

This time...a young 14 year woman greets the newcomer. It was Lucius's daughter Flavia. She bows and escorts the Aulus to where Lucius was. Lucius and Caelinus were speaking to each other just as Aulus walked in. Lucius remembered him from the session in the Curia today.

Ah! Aulus! I remember you. You have some mighty bold and intellectual speeches, my friend. You also made some very good points as well. You are quite the Orator. You have met my daughter Flavia. This is my son, Caelinus.

Caelinus bows as Flavia offers the senator something to drink. Lucius sits down, offering Aulus a seat as well.

So what brings you here, Aulus?

'I could very much say the same to you, Lucius - I very much admired your promotion of Roman values and your wise consel on the matter of Thrace and now that I see that your shrewd and strong pose is not just learned, but genetic, also I daresay your beautiful wife has that no small part in that. But yes, let us get down to business. You must be aware of the changing power balance in the Senate, Lucuius; Counsul Severus may be skilled, but he has shown himself to be badly out of touch with Roma, the Senate and the people. I do not doubt that our mutual friend Quintus has already said as much to you and, since he and I are both assured of your myriad skills, I am sure that he has asked you to vouch your support for him. He may well have even mentioned that I wish to seek further support for the position of Praetor. So I have come here to ask you, as a military man of impeccable experience, for your support.'

    Lucius nods to Aulus.

I thank you for your compliments, Aulus. You yourself have been well-educated in the art of speaking and the ways of the Senate. And...Flavia is my daughter. My wife, Valeria, is currently outside, tending to her flowers. I have given my support to Quintus, explaining how Consul Decimus has not pulled his weight compared to Consul Severus, which Quintus agreed with.

Lucius listens to Aulus proposals and nods in agreement.

I explained to Quintus my interest in the Praetor position, but decided to go with the position of Tribune. I agreed with his point that it would be more beneficial and prove to be a more powerful position. I will lend my support to you in your rise to Praetor...in return, I ask that you give your support in helping me become Tribune.
