It is a good tactic as long as you can handle the upkeep. I did that once with france, I attacked London, Nottingham and York in one turn. I don't know about a name, but I guess its some sort of surprise siege. Edit: Oh wait didn't realise I was on the ROme thread. Well that thing I did was in M2TW.

I dunno, I guess if you can get the stacks in the area fast enough, sure. But if you just move them in and wait, every turn you wait they'll use to train as many troops as possible.

I'd say it's not worth it tbh. The cost of keeping large stacks would work against you. Rather have just a few large stacks which would keep costs down and take settlements as you can which increases your income and production potential when compared to waiting until one final attack. I believe the word you're looking for to describe it is 'blitzkrieg'.

I think this is quite the opposite of blitzkireg

    Ehhh, NO.
The very heart of blizt krieg is to be able to hit as many places at the same time. And fast. Placing armies every where allows for swift strikes all over the enemy territory at the same time, leaving no room for counter manouvre or counter attacks. Expencive yes, but very fast indeed (the execusion part of it is fast, the build up phase has nothing to do with waging the war, so no need to hurry there).

What I described wasn't a blitz, but I was referring to the OP's question asking what his attack type is called. Wasn't actually very clear what I meant, so sorry about that

I normally just get one demigod stack of absolutely elite g/g units, they go through and clear out the enemy, subordinate crappy units do the garrisoning.

No. That was the Blitz above London. Part of Lutfwaffes attempt to get control of the skies above GB. Started by a mistake actually, but developed into terror. I just do not know who was worse, the Germans or the Allied.

There's the blitz, which is used to describe the terror bombing of London, and there's blitzkrieg (one word; literally "Lightning War(fare)"). Blitzkrieg is the art of using combined forces and surprise to completely overrun your enemy. Works best by punching tanks through enemy lines with infantry follow-up backed by planes, but that's unfortunately no possible in RTW
