    Default Failed Prophets

Given that some religions (Islam) explicitly say that there is no compulsion, what if man chosen by God to spread his words doesn't believe in him?

Would it be possible for there to be failed prophets in our history that were chosen by God but when God revealed itself to them they decided not to believe in him being a or the God?

There is still an "incentive" though when you look a little deeper.

Generally when a complete unbeliever recieves a vision from God, Paul for instance, they're subject to religious fervor to go along with it. Though obviously not everyone who claims to be a prophet or had religious visions of a particular nature can be the real deal.

Paul was a fervent believer in Yahweh, just not Yeshua.

Also if God gives you a staff that can turn itself into a snake you wouldn't generally doubt it, at least not thousands of years ago. These you may want some scientific testing done on the staff to see how it works.

I made it quite clear in the opening post that this thread is about people that failed to believe.

You can't fail to believe if you're given solid evidence, I doubt Richard Dawkins could even manage that.

Though a failed prophet could be someone like Zoroaster if all Zoroastrians were to die out, and they almost have. He was a big deal at one point.

Deluded people used to preach on my college campus every day.

Failed prophets are a dime a dozen, it takes a special kind of person to convince others to believe the unbelievable.

Now if they WERE inspired by god, you would have to assume god would know how they would react and would not pick those who were doomed to fail.

So while there are plenty of failed profits I would rather doubt there are any who were inspired by god.

He really means a prophet who was the real deal but didn't know it for some reason. I'm pretty sure anyone who was the real deal would know.

If God is perfect, then this would not be possible as God would have known the outcome before choosing him.

That would be the case if God exists outside of time, which makes sense seeing as he's the one who invented time in the first place.

God must be perfect or it leave room for questioning God and that won't fly with Christianity/Islam/Judaism.

I don't think any of these prophets were actually chosen by god.
