    Default The Vandals

Im thinking that the Vandals need to put the tribes about the middle of gaul. For that 407AD. What do you think?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vandals

The Vandals travelled west along the Danube without much difficulty, but when they reached the Rhine, they met resistance from the Franks, who populated and controlled Romanized regions in northern Gaul. Twenty thousand Vandals, including Godigisel himself, died in the resulting battle, but then with the help of the Alans they managed to defeat the Franks, and on December 31, 406 the Vandals crossed the frozen Rhine to invade Gaul. Under Godigisel's son Gunderic, the Vandals plundered their way westward and southward through Aquitaine.
    Iberia
In October 409 they crossed the Pyrenees into the Iberian peninsula. There they received land from the Romans, as foederati, in Gallaecia (Northwest) and Hispania Baetica (South), while the Alans got lands in Lusitania (West) and the region around Carthago Nova. The Suebi also controlled part of Gallaecia. The Visigoths, who invaded Iberia before receiving lands in Septimania (Southern France), crushed the Alans in 426, killing the western Alan king, Attaces. The remainder of his people subsequently appealed to the Vandal king Gunderic to accept the Alan crown. Later Vandal kings in North Africa styled themselves Rex Wandalorum et Alanorum ("King of the Vandals and Alans")

AND, i will like to add, it will be good if vandals will have in horde units like Suebi and Alani. just for history's sake.

I was thinking this too. Infact the Vandals shouldint even have horse archer units as they werent from the Steppes!(and neither were the Goths FYI) Instead, we should give them one or two Alan mercs per horde and remove there own horse archer units so they have to rely on mercs like in history.

Oh I'm modding it already , I posted in future plans a pic of the radar map with a proper background yesterday theres spme problems with heights, some seas (dead sea, etc.) are flooding, need to see caps?
but anyway heres the post from Future plans, verbatim:
    PRESENTING:
    the celt's new map!!

the starting positions will still be shifted around a bit, and the map still needs some fine tuning, but there it is ! It will be used in the next version of IBFG
this makes the Sassanids the powerful faction that they should be, but we'll be adding the white huns (Hepthalites, Huar) to challenge them

thanks for the map, the celt, its really great!

    EDIT:
heres proposed new starting positions (Franks, Burgundii, Vandals, Huns not yet moved):

and proposed pre game map (this is for empire west)

will be removing horse archers from Vandals, Goths (Visi & Ostro), and Slavs (not 100% about this but found no reference to Slavic horse archers, maybe give them some Bulgar or Avar allies?).
will post my proposed unit list in future plans

will also enable proper trade as per Mylaes buildings, this can come later though... more important, I thjink is to make one or two more provinces for the Saxons (I know you were planning this, too  )

no not in England in Scandinavia. the celts map expands to Scandinavia but those are just two regions for the Saxons now (or make the region but give it to Angles as rebels)

We've tried that and they just sit there the entire game! We really need to figure out how that descr_harvests.txt works cuse thats what encourages horde and army movement on the map not the victory condtions. :no

desc_harvests? doesn't that just give good/bad income from farming?
I tried giving the Slavs a territory to the East of the map and it seems they just ignored the victory conditions and still went west...
