Crash Every Time I Attempt to Battle

I have had this mod installed for months, and it's wonderful on the campaign map. I can't play battles, however, because the game crashes and exits to Windows. Every...single...time.

It's not my rig that's the issue, as I have a Core i7-870, 12gb RAM, 250gb SSD + 1tb HDD, NVidia GeForce 570, Windows 7, and plenty of bells and whistles.

I tried Widescreen, full screen, different resolutions, etc. I can run brand new games (like Crysis 2, Dawn of War 2, Starcraft 2, Shogun 2 (Lots of 2's...)) on max graphics settings, but this mod for Rome - an old game - just goes kaput when I attempt to enter battles.

Anyone else have this problem?

Please don't link me to some thread with 94168732468 posts that I have to read through.

Do you have unit shaders on in the video options?

Not sure. I will fire it up today, if I get the chance, and find out. Is that commonly a problem?

Just an FYI: I like my games to look good, hence the reason I build my own gaming rigs frequently. I will always try to run games at their max graphics settings. If something like deselecting the unit shaders will make my little men look silly on the battlefield, I will be a sad camper.

Yes it is a common problem. Unit shaders needs to be on or you will get alot of CTD's

Also have you got high resolution vegetation selected in the launcher? If so then you are likely to have lots of crashes.

So why does the newest PC technology have problems running things like high detail vegetation, but my old computer could handle it just fine?

Also, I just tried it again. Now I can get to the pre-battle, where I set up my unit formations. Once I hit "Start Battle" however, the game crashes.

The game was made in 2004. The game only runs on a single core. If you have an i7 processor it aint going to make any difference. Also the game does not use any of the new video card technologies because when the game was made those technologies were not around.

With the older games it can be better to use older computers to play them on.
