Patch 1.05

So once again i'm having trouble trying to play CoW. I'm trying to get a 1.05 patch working for the Gold Edition but none of the sites i've tried pulled any results. I get a setup.exe has encountered a problem. I have a cd version of the game not steam. So can anyone help me, or am i doomed to an eternity of watching CoW videos on Youtube and pretending i'm playing.

Lol spartan 'doomed for eternity watching utube videos' that made me smile, i also couldnt get this mod to work a long time ago and felt the same, though im posting coz i can say that link the mighty Gigantus linked works since i use the thread myself on any re-install of med2

UGGHHH!!! This is so frustrating, the setup.exe won't open. It keeps saying that it has encountered a problem and must shut down. It's bee like this with every patch download i don't know what to do. Is there anybody out there that can help me?

Two possibilities:
1. the download of the patch is corrupt
2. The installation of your game was corrupt (invalid registry entry)

Seeing that you are having the same problem with every patch I would suggest to re-install the game.

1. Uninstall via control panel
2. Remove 'left overs' manually
3. Check this article to take of assorted stuff: Total war and Vista and Win7
4. Restart your computer to remove (now deleted) registry entries form memory
5. Install again
6. Read this article and apply it: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
7. Download a suitable patch and apply

ok i must be stupid..but now i can't open the torrent file to get to the setup.exe file. What do i do now O'Lord Gigantus?

tango got it right = 7zip is freeware and does the job of extracting.

so I'm trying to re download the mod in parts this time but my internet is crap today. It's going to take approx. 16 hours to download 1 file. Why must the gods curse me so?

News update!!! I downloaded the 1.4.4 full Complete English mod but there is no setup.exe. So what do i do now oh great ones of TWCenter?

It doesn't necessary need to be called setup - look for the file that is the only one with an EXE extension (usually named 'application' in one of the columns to the right of it)

the only application is unins000.exe and FPS_Booster.exe. When i double click on unins000.exe it extracts the files to some random place so I'm thinking that i have to extract them into the mods folder? If not then what do i do? I really appreciate all the help guys! You guys are one of the best online communities out there.

It looks as if you have downloaded the file into a different directory, because none of the two files is the right one.

Downloads are also offered in compressed form (ZIP, RAR etc) - these need to be extracted before running the included EXE file.

Do i really have to download all COH files GAIN,
it took me 4 days to download them!
I couldn't do much on my pc in those 4 days!

You don't have to download those again. Maybe we are just having a communications problem;

In post #11 you said you have them all downloaded.
In post #13 you said you only have an unins000.exe and a FPS_Booster.exe in the folder.

So where are your installation files, the ones you said you downloaded in post #11?

gerrit1919 is someone different. I'm thinking he's having the same problem as me?

I extracted my files and the only setup is an icon. The other applications from post #13 are the only ones.

Could you make a screenshot of that directory?
When extracting a file the easiest method is usually to right click it and choose 'extract here' from the choices in the small menu that pops up. That way you can be sure that the extracted files\directories will appear in the same directory. If you use the simple 'extract files' option and don't remember which directory you extracted to (it will use the last used directory if you don't change it) then you are in for a big goose hunt to find the files. Guess that's what happened here.
Simply extract the file again using the described method and then check the new files\directories for a setup file (not necessary named like that - could be called 'install' or something similar)

Well my exact problem is this:
I just click on the setup.exe file, it installs automaticly.
It says it is installed succesfully, then i click on the kingdoms icon and then i get the error message :

'Wrong CD/DVD inserted.
insert the original "Kingdoms" CD/DVD.
Look at (link) for more detaills.'

And this only happened when i installed 1.5 patch.

I have heard of this problem when patching a gold version to 1.05 - there is an official SEGA 'crack' to fix that. To get details of that, the fastest way would be to post in the Technical forum, I am sure Irishron has got the link lying around somewhere.
