Default Rossi's LENR tested 4 times validated 4 times - Crazy times or Giant con?

Low Energy Nuclear Reaction or cold fusion:

Basically this is free energy kinda stuff and as such should attract a huge amount of skepticism. It wouldn't be free but it would change the energy markets instantly should it be true.

The idea that he went to scientists in Sweden not once but four times for multiple tests does not sound like the actions of a con artist.

    Thoughts?

From reading the wiki, all I can tell is that non of those tests seem to have been done in a proper controlled environment. Until the design itself is properly analyzed by the scientific community (which is unlikely as he keeps the design itself a trade secret), I'll stick with the guy being a damn good con artist.

Yea its a black box right now. Could be anything.

Fair enough though the fact that it has quite a large amount of interest and some kind of approbation by a number of physicists who he went to see tends to suggest something, I can't imagine they are damned fools (not impossible of course).

I would not call them fools. I'd see it too. Right now though without any science it's a magic trick.

Is he afraid of having the idea stolen? Surely he could patent it and protect his investment?

It seems to have all the tell-tale signs of a chemical reaction being advertised as nuclear fusion.

Oh... this all over again... It's a secret until he can squeeze all the cash he can, then he talks about the need to perfect some aspects and we never hear about this again. This is the normal MO for decades now. When there are real methods for doing what this guy claims you can be sure that we will only hear about it when there are already functioning power plants working.

didnt mythbusters do an episode on this free energy business?
im feeling this is a con

I consider it BS until the guy reveals how it works.

Free energy is a con. If you are claiming to do 'cold fusion' of some kind then its not really free energy. Since the methods are not being released I would assume this is a con hoping to get some major investors and then disappear to some tropical island. Its up to the inventor to prove otherwise and black box tests can't really prove that.

Yeah it isn't free energy since it would still cost to run, it would be cheaper energy but that in itself is a very bold claim and I have to wonder why this isn't open sourced after all the person that could claim to invent it would still end up being a very very rich man. Same thing as when people get cancer cures but the "MAN" suppresses it.

Was initially quite interested now I think I'll probably just forget about it.

Two bits of news one on this subject and another on a thing called Steorn I've posted about:

    http://www.e-catworld.com/2011/09/th...-unusual-tale/

(releasing a product in October and agreed to let NASA test the product)

    (con artists still going...but why?)

So Rossi broke off his arrangement with Defkalion? Yeah, that's definitely con material. As for why they keep going? Who knows, con artists have been around for eternity. They're probably getting money from private investors who fall for their tales.

At some point Steorn developed a design for an electric pulse motor -- named E-Orbo - that did not produce back EMF (also known as counter EMF), and hence produced overunity gains of energy. Back EMF is the enemy of free energy in electric motors, because it is the signature of energy transfer between the circuit that powers the electromagnets (input) that are pulsed, and the rotor (output). If you can avoid producing back EMF, you simply will not be transferring energy from the input to the output. The concept is that the torque gained by the rotor will be thermodynamically free. Hence, the efficiency of such a setup will be infinite, since none of the input is actually consumed.

It's sad that jackasses like this really stand in the way of decent investment in real science behind this type of reactor. To me, low-energy fusion is the future.

I'm no physicist, but this sounds total BS...
