I think there's too many to be spawning generals, the player needs control: but as champions that come forward to offer their services to a higher lord; that's lore accurate and pretty freaking cool, if I could have my way that'd be the only way chaos factions could recruit troops and every tribe has slightly different troops.

agreed. border princes in lore had armys that were 70-80% mercenary, and were unique for employing all races so you could find elves, dwarves, orks, goblins and many others all in the same army.also units from brettonia were often present as gifts from the king for the border princes defence of the region which was one of the main routes to brettonia.
according to lore there is large unit diversity including regiments from araby, cathay and lustria. cheers

As they are mercenaries which are traveling all over the world (also the old world), they can be mercenaries as the others with no problem imho.

    Great stuff man!

Thanks for infopara and Himster, do you guys have armybook entry for Karnac's lizardmen?

Isilendil, as derdavid explained, they are one part of Regiments of Renown, Armybook entry in first post. They can be hired in Lustria area, but also in others if other players agree in tabletop. I'm planning to add them same way as Ricco, Venators, etc are implemented, random recruitment question, general spawns, and unit recruitable in mercenary camp And glad that you like it, I try my best

Anakonda (general) preview soon, model ready, currently texturing.

The source is spring journal 1985, and in it it references the second edition rules for the basic profile lizardmen with Karnac being a 25 hero, they don't mention rules for Huris, but the total war engine doesn't allow him to be in the unit anyway, so it doesn't matter.

They are a regiment of renown based around Karaz-a-Karak.
They have a mysterious origins, but the dwarves found them imprisoned deep under the mountain when they mined too greedily and too deeply, the miners were slaughtered and devoured, or worse sacrificed in bloody ritual by being eaten alive. Given the way they look and their particularly primitive looking models (more akin to troglodytes than lizardmen), my theory is that they were a failed experiment by the Slann which they then imprisoned in a place they thought they could never escape and wreak havoc. Subsequently a vast city and a sizeable primitive society developed which may reach the surface at any time. dun dun dun.

Anakonda (unit hero/general) preview. I have found none art for her, and tabletop model don't exist, only description I had is this from the Armybook:

"What is known from the collected journals and rambling testimonies of various explorers lucky enough to have survived prolonged contact with them, is scant. It is believed they take their names from the jungle beasts with which they share their lands. These names are tied into strict ritual and one scholar has theorised that totemic identities are granted after a physical trial akin to a rite of passage. Anakonda, their leader, is known as such after she wrestled a huge snake, slew it and flayed its skin to wear as a trophy and record of her deed. Other warriors in the warband have performed similar feats and are named accordingly."

So I made her to wear that skin, and tooked the shape of cloth from amazon "patriarch" tt-model. Needs still tidying up, textures, clipping and stretching issues, etc, but here:
    Anakonda (hero)

Where did you find those? Never seen those figures before, what "unit" it is called? It seems there is models for Hummingbird with it's standard, and Piranna too, great find!
    +1

Good news is that the model isn't very far away visually from what I did, it seems she is wearing the skin in her back in the figure tought, but I doubt I change it.

The unit is called Anakondas Amazons, I found them on the german lexikanum (seems to be the best version). As I said, I like your version more than the original and I love the interface and the rest you made! Great Work!

Campaign preview, big thanks to Gigantus for trouble shooting and advices It seems I can't add more unique strat-map models for Empire faction (limit reached), so I will have to replace one already excisting, currently it's Pizarro. But I believe Anakonda needs custom model more (being a female ). Battlemap models ofcourse will be unaffected.

    Anakonda (Hero) campaign preview

I will put download link soon once I get last polishing done, but it will be for unit balancing and cost/recruitment balancing, open-beta so to say. It will have Amazons for custom battle, and Anakonda (and amazons ofcourse) for campaign. You will get question in first turn if you would like to recruit Anakonda (normally 1% change in beginning of the turn), so her/units can be tested right away from the beginning.

Also, videomakers, if someone is interested, it would be great to have short epic video in recruitment (similar as other mercs have) for Amazons. If someone make's one, I'm sure to add it in, credits and rep ofcourse.

If you want some ideas for mercenaries, I've got one: Vespero's Vendetta.
They're basically masked italian (well, the warhammer fantasy counterpart of italians) assassins, which are very popular these days.
I don't remember exactly their story (it was in the old dogs of war book, which I do not longer have), but it was something along this: Vespero was the greatest duelist in his country and a troublemaker, he then got contracted by Borgio the besieger after getting kicked out of his country, when the latter was killed, he went into hiding and vowed to revenge him, training the assasins and all that. I coulnd't find a veritable source, other than my memory, for this, so you'll have to trust me

Here's some info about their stats in WHFB:
    http://www.freewebs.com/tups_av/Dogs%20Of%20War.pdf

    and some artwork/miniature images:

Of course, the name, the masks, the knives, ALL is an obvious reference to the comic (and the film) V for Vendetta. So I guess you can have some artistic liberties with Vespero himself and have him modeled after V, Guy Fawkes mask and all, and the rest have random ornated porcelain masks.

I also remember something about a Nippon "Ronin" mercenary regiment, but I think those were fan-made. Too sad, it is a cool idea.
    EDIT: Here they're, if you're interested: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79680

Thanks guys. I should check german lexi too for pictures from now on, those aren't in english lexi. Good thing you found them, if I'm going to add Humming and Piranha as banner carrier and musician for Anakondas unit, I now have visual reference for them.

UI is my Averland UI from EFI:

    Love your work!

Do you plan to add this unit for vanilla only or can you release a version for the most used submods, too? Like the voices or reiksfarts mod?

Thanks. Currently the version I'm fixing up, is for vanilla, but it doesn't use same files as Voices, so it is compatible with it. I have been studying the possibility to add (Ninja51's) female voices for the amazons, but it seems it needs more work, I would have to create new faction (accent) for the voices, and more, but if/when they are added, it will be compatible with Voices-mod (it's a must in CoW).

About Reiksfarts, and Dwarves, and what people come up with. If it's ok to the authors of them, yes. But it wouldn't hurt if someone else could do this combining work too.

Here's a teaser for next hero (spawning one, not mercenary), you can find "it" in Himster's earlier list/post.

    ?

Yay, well obviously this one should spawn. But some should be mercs, like Wulfrik the wanderer and his veteran norse marauders, Kaldour and his fallen old world knights, Festus ans his nurgle cultists, U'Zhul the skull-taker, Beorg bearstruck and his bearmen, Arek Daemon claw and his mutated marauders of tzeentch and Valnir the reaper and his ressurected chosen of Nurgle.

    ?

Valkia probably is amongst the coolest characters in warhammer, are you going to give her wings and beastmen legs?
