Default Ordered Rome Total War-Campaign Question

Ordered RTW and hopefully should arrive tomorrow. From what I understand is that in order for you to unlock all the factions at once the player needs to beat a short or long campaign with one of the three Roman factions, or you can unlock a faction by destroying them. I am not sure which Roman faction to play with first. All three look like great campaigns. I was wondering which one is the most noob friendly (if there is such a thing at all) and which one from your experience is the most entertaining and rewarding of all three.

    Thank you!

If youre not very good at battling, then the julii are your friends, as they fight inferior barbarian units most of the campaign. But there cities they capture are underdeveloped so you need to be good on the campaign map. If youre not good campaign map wise (financially for example) then the Brutii are the way to go as they will capture rich cities, but the troops you fight are similar to yours, although slightly inferior. The most rewarding would be the scipii, as they will have plenty of public order problems and Carthage can have pretty powerful troops (Elephants!)

The julii are the most intensive (if you could call it that lol) of the roman factions, because they fight hordes of barbarians but don't get any rich cities. They have the most rewarding campaign because it is much harder then the others. You are constintly being attacked by factions and because they branch into europe you are surrounded. You will also fight the britions, who are a skirmish based faction, and since rome is nearly pure infantry they can be hard to fight for new players.

The other two factions don't have land connections to enemys, which means you won't get attacked. This is especially true of brutii. They must fight the greeks and macedonians who use hoplites and pikes, but since rome has good infantry and the greeks and macedonians are not well set up and should be easy. Plus greece is extremly rich, second only to egypt. Once you capture it, you will have no problems. the egyptions are very powerful in terms of troops and numbers, but by the time you reach them you should be good.

The scipii have to fight carthage, and let me tell you right now, there is no faction as week as carthage. They're early units suck, they suck hard, and the AI doesn't help at all since it isn't great. You should have absolutly no trouble with them if you don't give them 50 turns to build up, they're late game units are fantastic, some of the best, but early and mid game troops are completly useless. There lands are fairly rich though, so once you absorb them be sure to sail immediatly for spain, and to egypt (otherwise the egyptions will come for you lol)

I definately think the Brutii are the most fun, barbarians are boring to fight, and Scipii isn't that great either. Fighting greeks is fun, and eastern factions are too, plus they get the best income.

For the Roman factions, I think the Brutii are the most enjoyable for the first run and you'll come across more varied enemies which should keep it very interesting for you

    But, green saves the earth....
Seriously. For learning, Brutii are the best, as GotR pointed out, they come across great many enemies and fighting styles.

Seleucid would be pretty hard for a first time player though.

First and foremost I would like to express my gratitude to everyone that took the time and posted. I really appreciate that. Well, I got my copy in today and initially started a Brutii campaign. After having considered all the feedback here and watched a few let's play RTW on youtube, I opted to start a Brutii campaign. However, after one post that made me aware that I could unlock all the factions by changing the script I became excited as I really really wanted to play a Sele campaign. But, after I did so I changed my mind and wanted to actually continue the campaign I had already started. Despite my intentions to continue, when I tried launching the game my disc drive would not recognize the dvd in. I tried numerous times and and restarted my machine but to no avail. I was able to launch it prior to dinner, where I was able to launch a campaign as the Sele.

Believing the error to have been with my disc drive I launched my M2TW copy but that one worked just fine. I have had also issues with playing Empire and Napoleon (look to the NTW forum). Amazon cannot exchange the copy since they were selling the game on behalf of a third vendor, though they are providing me with a refund. Oh well, I guess I will just wait till I acquire a new machine and get a steam copy of the game. I would have done so already but steam is not working on my current machine. No idea why.

I guess I will just stick with M2TW for now. Started a Hungary campaign.

People actually order PC games and wait for them to come in? Why not just buy it online, download it online, and get your key online?

He purchased it, therefore he is the owner of the software, therefore he is legitimate in obtaining a copy so necessary for the operation of the software with his machine.

I'm afraid you will find that they don't own the software. They have a license to use the software subject to some conditions (defined by the publisher).

Each exe has it's own CD-Key - I presume in order to use another players exe they need to pirate the software which is illegal and aganist the T&C of TWC.

Wrong answer. It's against the Terms of Serive of this site to discuss in this fashion. In fact, this statement is infractable.

Only for the copy he now owns unless he can convince www.sega.com/support to replace. Otherwise you will buy anew copy, disc or Steam.
