    Default RSII map files

If you clicked onto the RSII map files to see what it was about and suddenly realized it removed those file (and you didn't really want to remove the files), how you recover them?

Can you explain what you mean by how you removed the files just by clicking on them?

Have you deleted them? Did you make changes to them?

If you made changes to them and you're using Vista / 7 and you installed to the c:\program files (x86) folder then any changes will go to the 'virtual store' or 'appdata' area. In your run dialog box type in %appdata% and fgollow the path.

When you first click on the desktop icon to open the game you're presented with a screen where you choose your faction (in the upper left hand corner) and you can also so something with the map files (drop down menue in the lower left hand corner). Well, I clicked on the drop down menue in the lower left hand corner and it said it deleted the RSII map files. Do I have to reinstall somehow, or do they (the map files I deleted) come back on their own?

No, I didn't go into the scripts, or anything like that. All I did was click on that little drop down menue in the lower left of the screen.

    Haha
You're fine, they're development files, generated on each run on the game, and nothing to worry about!
It worried me first time too, but you're ok. In fact, for beta testing its recommender you delete them each time you run the game.

    Aaahhhhh - the map.rwm files.

When you first install the game the map.rwm file is not present in the install. The first time you launch a campaign the game will take various files in the game folder (text files) and create a map.rwm file. As long as the file is present this won't happen again.

There is no danger in deleting the map.rwm file as all the game will do is recreate the file. If you do delete the map.rwm file you will find that the campiagn will take slightly longer to load - this is because the file is being created.

Quite often one of the quick solutions for some CTDs is to delete the map.rwm file, start the game and load the save. Quite often that was enough to clear the problem. Not always though.

    Enjoy the game.
