Default The Cure for most CTDs ???

I really recommend You all to check this installation from Gigantus. Probably it eliminates most of CTDs and add new voices for Dwarfes, Orcs and Sylvania (credits to Ninja51, Galoper and The Holy Pilgrim for them) Give it a chance and report about Your experience

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=472832

I tried 2 factions - DE and Dwarfes (Altogether about 10 battles in 25 turns) and no CTDs occured.

I will have to do some testing with Gigantus' new installers (everybody please be sure to rep him ), but I do believe that they do stabilize the mod a good bit.

Also, I will be releasing my custom menu soon in light of this new installer. It will allow for hotseat (both with custom and the Storm of Chaos campaigns), all factions playable in Custom Battles and possibly for the campaign as well, but we will see about that.

It seems so. I copy old save games and could play further. I don't know what are symptoms of absonant.

I think quite a few CTDs were due to duplicated files in different folders.

After removing about 2.600 unnecessary files (see pic) it appears that the game now runs smoothly: with the help of some of the members here a few non critical things got sorted and it appears to run smooth.
I am busy with a Kislev campaign and on turn 120 without a single CTD so far. That's what one should expect, isn't it?

Yes, 120 turn without CTD is a really success. Good work + rep.

As I said: duplicates (or copies of originals). I found one complete duplicated directory in a spot were it didn't belong, can't remember exactly which. But it was like having an additional unit texture folder in the world folder.
Then there were a lot of files that had Cyrillic lettering in it, or what passed at that symbolically.
On top of that there were identical DDS and TGA files - something that isn't necessary anymore since kingdoms. Here a small error occurred, the non critical stuff I referred to. More details about that are in the original thread.

I personally don't think anything is going to help my CTD problems with COW. But I am always glad to give anything a try. Gigantus thanks for your efforts and hard work downloading now.

Make sure you don't mix up the two directories, my version will install into C:\...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Call_of_Warhammer, apply the language installer update as well as the stuff in post #2.

Posted in the other thread, but maybe I should have posted this here...

First I've run into a bit of a problem. I've installed the game *I'm using steam and used the awesome launcher app* and it works fantastic. However, I've run into an issue with the patch. It installs about 1/2 of the way, then stops, and I get a message that says

"Call of Warhammer - Gig's patches" has not been installed because of the following reasons.

mods\Call of Warhammer\data\menu\_m2_border.xcf: The system cannot find path specified.

What do I do? I know I'm installing it into the right location (the steam MTW2 folder). At least I'm 99.95% sure I am.

Now, let me say, Gigantus... you are the MAN! I installed Third Age a few days ago, and have been playing it like a mad man. Then I stumbled across mention of a Warhammer mod... I went to install it but everything seemed so complex and confusing... AND BUGGY!

Then you come along and make it easy and, apparently, far far far less buggy (I haven't had a single issue after a few hours of play).

So thank you. Thank you for your time and effort from one of the many who you've helped. Sounds corny, but it's true!

I can confirm that this installation guide really improves the stability of the mod! I' ve been playing COW for almost one year now with various patches and installation guides and yesterday I could play the night goblin siege on Karak Achtgipfel for the first time without a CTD at the end of the battle.

Thanks a lot for the great work!

Responded in the other thread - One is glad to be of service

Edit: just remembered what else I removed (I think): the files in the 'packs' subfolder of the mod. Apparently the original modders used the original teutonic campaign, trying to get it to read from the mod's packs files. They must have failed as you have to keep the original name of the folder (teutonic) - something we achieved with the German mod here, using a fancy installation technique. The inability to use the packs files must have forced them to unpack and in the course of that they forgot to remove the (now unnecessary) huge packs files.

I really never do this stuff, and its very kind of you to help me.
The AI just really dont do that much in siege, and its just randomly crash, in or out battle.
and im not sure which log you are thinking about, but I hope this is the right.

something in connection with this scripted siege probably caused the crash:

    16:16:17.661 [game.script.exec] [trace] exec <siege_settlement> at line 13667 in mods/Call_of_Warhammer/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/campaign_script.txt

Could be that the character is sieging\attacking his own settlement, this is the stuff in the script, settlement is Averheim. there are various other reasons, like invalid textures (building\models involved in that siege battle) that might cause that as well.

    Code:
and not I_SettlementOwner Averheim = turks
            siege_settlement orcgeneral2, Averheim, attack
        end_if

thought this would be the appropriate thread, after loading my game with your install gig i had same crash problems on my old sylvania save game (only 30 turns or so into that campaign), but as soon as i loaded a new game with them and got to turn 30 no CTD's whatsoever, and on all my other saved and new campaigns on other factions not a single CTd, and im talking about 10's of hours gameplay here.

Thank you so much your a legend!

    +rep!
