Hi y'all.

I have been looking at Total War and I am stunned by how beautiful it is. I am just stunned speechless. I will get all series, and play them to death. And it is love at first sight whn I see TW and

... i'd want to start up a storyline for a RP/strategy world . I happen to have a background in that endeavor dating back to the early 80s. War games, roleplay, board games, the most extreme and elaborate LARPS, I did it all. I have been out of the scene for years, but I have enjoyed a bout of creativity in Second Life and general game design. In essence, when watching TW I am mesmerized and just enchanted by the medium. I hasten to add I am not a very sound strategician myself - very extreme ADHD - but I do love the permutations of all these games.

In essence, SL being a focal point for me, I'd LOVE taking the device of the Total War franchise, mod it and create an interactive, massively multiplayer environment in SL, and create a map, an economy, create virtual space environments and then create an interactive game where fun people can take part and battle.

I can see a negotiation rooms and a map room and all the usual visual delights. And it would even be better when Collada Meshes open up in SL this year. Great growth potential there.

Yes I'd start from scratch. In such an endeavor I'd take what mod-tools are tested in TW and implement them in a format that allows for future tweaking, adding and customization. Such a game can start with standard units (is it possible to mix settings safely?), create some custom maps, and work from there. Ideally the customization would extend to a wide range of fantasy units, represented as realistic as possible, an ever more elaborate, rich and persistent world, and the potential to interact. The SL part is essential in this, acting as socializing, representational and creative space - imagine a tens of meters wide 3D map in SL depicting occupational regions, conflicts, cities, ongoing battles. This would add a massive element of strategy and diplomacy to such a game.

I have time, tools and motivation to do this, but I'd love some feedback and constructive criticism to gradually move towards realizing this. I like to do things fairly big, and I have experience with such things, but success in what I do always hinges on involvement and enthusiasm of other people. If I can mobilize the fun of other people, I tend to stick to things for years.

As I said, I'd love constructive comments and questions. Feel free to email me, and inquire. As said the goal would be to take a fantasy setting, represent it with persistence and consistency (make it feel really credible) and then keep adding to it.

While I think TW is amazing, there may even be another wargame medium out there that is more easily modded and better suitable. I would be open to suggestions on that too, but for now I think TW is the best choice out there.

Please let me all know what you think. Yes, this may start right here.
