I see many great submods and minimods spawning; adding accuracy and realism to the mod- a mod I like a lot.
This is all good and I recognise a pattern from a few years ago with Baldur's Gate, which I love as well and still play, heavily modded. Mods add flavour, experience, life and new experiences to a fantasy game and keeps it developing.
The pattern I see repeated is that many of these great sub-/minimods are not compatible and it is beginning to cause problems. I also see attempts at dealing with it through such efforts as MOS (which I would install if I could figure out the process- it just does not work for me).
In BG there has been a transition from various modders working on their own pet project to a massive coordination where just about all submods are compatible; largely through a gargantuan effort from the Gibberlings3. This has added new life to a great game and continues to. There is just so much to see, try and do. So many variants...
I know from EBII (probably the most massive modding effort on MTW KDs) that coordination is possible. We have a group of people dedicated to nothing but ensuring that all the various ideas and projects of the various faction groups, scripters, skinners, etc are coordinated. I know it was done on the myriad of mods for BG and how much it added to the game.
IT IS TIME WE DO IT HERE!
Please, good modders; I like many of your submods and I want to try many of them. But sadly some are not compatible; I believe it is time to coordinate your efforts to bring more to the community. Please consider it. Some are already informally doing so, but perhaps it is time for a more formal coordination? ...
Thanks for your efforts and for taking time to read my ranting.
Oh... and furthermore I believe that a 1640-mod should be added.
