Thread: CoW 1.4.4 - Easy and painfree Installation

Wow, took me a while to notice this awesomeness.

Can't believe you managed to cut 3 gigs from the install file. Makes me want to reinstall CoW just for that.

I stumbled across another 3-500MB while looking for further fixes...

If you have suffered from annoying crashes with the original, then this version is worth it (see the comments)

It appears the seeding for the torrent has been successful - someone else is seeding now as well apart from myself.
Kindly give a feed back if the files install correctly.

    UPDATE

I came across a thread where it was discussed that the Krell event did not fire. Apprently this was due to the fact the an ancillary (krell_axe) could be aquired before the event was due. As the absence of this ancillary (and later acquisition by the Krell character) was instrumental in the start of the Krell event this could lead to a 'non happening' of that event.
A simple 'orphaning' of the ancillary (removal\absence of triggers) fixed that. See second post.

    MORE UPDATE

Came across this nifty application of the FPS Booster by .:Zack Fair:. This should assist with tickling those last frame rates out of your machine. In the second post as well.

i'll be having it in 3 hours and i'll be seeding it as much as possible...

what i'd like to ask for though ,would be a zipped form of an installed folder
    -in english
-with ninja51 's voice mod (expanded english voice mod)
-with all the bugs solved ,as in post#2 (at least the ones discovered till now ,like some banners etc)

    Hello, my friend.

I'll be happy to let you know that this mod is in English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish.

You'll have no difficulties understanding the mod

The torrent is the same 11 files as in post one plus a text file of that first post.
I am still the only seeder, but it should go quicker now - got some tips and tricks for the settings and hopefully in a few hours others will start seeding as well. From then on it should be a breeze.
There are about 30 peers that are at nearly 80% - being my first ever uploaded torrent I didn't know that it is advisable to set it at 'initial seeding' when the upload speed is as low as mine (40KB\sec). I have seeded roughly 5.5GB for an upload of 3.8GB, guess I learned something new. The next torrent will be easier and probably not as big.

    • THP forgot that this version has Italian as well.
    • I do not really wish to put any major sub mods into a full upload - this is supposed the base version without the hiccups. The flavor should stay, the bad aftertaste should be gone.
    • Fixes I will be putting in as I come across them, the reason why I am slowly running out of attachment slots in post #2 - time for a patch again, I guess.

The torrent is fully seeded, currently there are more then 50 seeders.

I am working on integrating Toho's strat map models (buildings\settlements) and then will compile a new patch with it and the small stuff I released.

This is a modified original version. But seeing that the modifications do not change anything apart from the download size and a drastic reduction in crashes it might be an idea.

Torrent downloaded and installed fine. Which of the small fixes (if any) do I need to install now?

    Great news indeed!

Check the available patches\fixes in post#2 - install them in numerical order.

    Gigantus

Thank you very much for uning this install. I am testing it all now, so far so good. Now I may finally be able to convince others to try it, because it was really huge pain in the ass to install before and nobody wanted to bother.

The torrent link seems to be dead. I get a 404 from both the link earlier on this page and from the one in the first post.

I am not sure what happened but I will try to get the page back, annoying to say the least.

Edit: I am a complete noob at torrents, but will the torrent file be sufficient (see attachment) - the seed is complete and there should be some seeders out there.

Thanks again for doing this Gig, the extra HD space is really appreciated.

    May I suggest adding the

    windowed=true
    borderless_window=true

lines to the cfg in a subsequent update? Most people don't know about the borderless mode yet it costs nothing to add and many will appreciate being able to alt+tab in peace. It's one of those tech support thingies that makes a mod that much more user friendly.

Edit: Actually the cfg already contains the commands but they're set to false.
