Default On the words "Optimate" and "Populare"

I would prefer we edge away from splitting the senate down the middle by over simplification. That is to say, between calling ourselves either Optimates or Populares. These were not terms the Senatorials gave themselves but names textbooks gave them later in order to simplify it for idiots in Roman Civ 101 classrooms. Cicero called the traditionalist block the "boni" and populist is just a term that refers to individuals that pander to the mob for support. I would prefer we claim ourselves as neither. Instead, if factions are to arise, they should be referred to as a bloc. I think it is pretty obvious to see the evolution of the "Caesarian bloc" in the game. That is fine. However, one of the most annoying things about YATS was the political party system which was just a stupid way for people to start hating other peoples' characters for no in game reason. It is an intellectual cop out to simplify the Roman Revolution in this way. There are a few ways to advance your character in this game through populism or traditional means but I really discourage fragmenting due to any sort of reason other than direct conflict of interest that poses a detriment to your character.

I try and edge away from it as well. Most Roman Senators were in it for themselves, plain and simple.

I simply have trouble finding a better word, most times I use allies of Caesar or friends of the people.

For Optimates I generally use aristocrat.

"But there must always be a Darth Traya, one that holds the knowledge of betrayal. Who has been betrayed in their heart, and will betray in turn."

"You clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, I AM the danger! A guy opens his door and gets shot and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks! "

Aristocrat is a good word. I would use Nobile personally to refer to someone acting "Optimatey"

I agree. I remember one history teacher, I forget his name, but when he talked about the Roman Republic, one of the first things he said was...

"There were no Republicans and Democrats in Rome. There was only each individual and his agenda."
