    Default Running out of Generals!

Okay, so everything in my 361AD 6tpy is going great except one thing: I'm running out of generals! The damn Sassanids have managed to kill of a couple of generals in the middle east, and in gaul and germany the alamanni have also managed to kill off a couple of generals. And with 6tpy it takes ages for young romans to come of age, so I'm now facing a very serious problem! I have no one to govern my cities and no one to lead my legions! Is there anything I can do to change the course of events? Julian himself is currently in Thrace campaigning against the Thervingi goths together with the faction heir Marjorianus, and I actually really have any generals to replace them with as I need to fight as much as I can there atm not to lost very important cities in the Balkans. Nevitta is still going strong at 64 years of age and is the scourge and bane of the Sassanids, but he is a very lonely man out there!

    What can I do?!

Turn to Africa, there are loads of generals in the forts there, most of them with 4+ loyalty too. You must be getting a lot of generals killed if there is a shortage, there's usually a few in cities, especially Hispania and Italy.

I've had some bad luck with Sassanid assassins, they almost got nevitta once. A few have rebelled too, including one who was in charge of almost an entire field army in Egypt.

I'd suggest getting an officer to win heroic victories. This might lead to an adoption offer.

Bad luck... try not to let generals with low loyalty lead large armies. Bribe enemy generals if you can? Usually the game compensates if you get too low on generals.

Yeah the guy who rebelled with a field army was a mistake of mine, I accidentally took out the wrong commander to lead them, and I payed the price lol. Also thanks for your advice I'm going to use the guys from north africa.

Well you could always train brand-new generals at Antioch and Nicomedia....

You can train replacements in some cities I believe Antioch is one of them!
DOH! didn't even see above post
P.S put a spy in your army stacks, they can spot assassins coming, or better yet an assassin also- you could preempt them

And for some reason i have always found having a spy and assassin in an army kind of 'protect' the general. I have had, during a ceasefire, an sassie assassin come and try to kill my general every turn, he had 6 subterfuge and should have been able to do it save for the spy and assassin that was in his army.

Yes, my magister militum per orientum used to get assassinated every second turn, before I did this.

hmmm, i suspect ur just a cruel ruler so ur MMpO was too afraid when u had ordered for him to be summoned at the court, so he rather chose to commit a suicide

You might be right, but: Cuius regio, eius religio
