    Default Laptop Suggestion

Recently, I've been looking for a good laptop to buy as a replacement for my old one when I go to university this fall. I eventually narrowed the choices down to two laptops, a Samsung Q330 or a Asus K42J. However, I'm unsure as to which laptop might be better- I've never used a samsung before (reliable?) and am uncertain while for Asus their laptops seem to be either very good or bad with atrocious customer support.
    Any suggestions?

Just bought a cheap Samsung laptop in the UK - sandy bridge i3 with 15.6" screen otherwise similar spec to the samsung you're thinking of -for £399.

so far it's been reliable (after a week!) - currently hooked up to a 22" monitor- but OK on it's own.

screen size - how portable does the laptop need to be - smaller more protable, but larger easier to read?

Thanks for the help. Preferably, I'd like to have a screen size between 13-14 inches.

there is very little difference between the 12.5 and the 13.1, and the x220 is sturdy as hell, as plus you can put a desktop gpu connected to it and game to your hearts content
