Cant get into campaigns ( No steam )

Hi everybody,

Im new to RTW and RSII, I just purchased RTW Gold as a direct download from Direct2drive ( its not steam )

When I launch RSII it comes up with 3 errors and I cant get into the game from the launcher. I have tried all choices in the launcher.

If I click on the RTW desktop shortcut ( not the RSII shortcut ) I get into the game with the RS mod applied, but I only get the choice of Historic battles or custom battles, and Im looking to start my first campaign......

I installed RSII to RTW and the above errors appeared, so I removed everything including RTW and re-installed RSII to a different directory and then copied the files into the RTW directory overwriting any files but again the same errors occured..........I at a loss now as to what to do, Ive tried this on 2 PCs one with XP and one with Vista, Ive tried searching the net but without success.

Im sure Im doing something wrong but I just have no idea what.

Hi, can you screenshot your RS2 folder please?
Also, try running RS2_RTW.bat (or whichever exe you want to use) and see if you can launch the game that way.

Thanks for your reply Hellhound. I can launch the game from the .bat but still cant launch it from the RSII launcher. This applies on XP and Vista.

These screenshots are from XP.

Hmm ok i've found a possible cause.

Basically the error being thrown up is because the game is looking in "the creative assembly\RSII", whereas your install is in "the creative assembly\Rome total war"

Can you go to d:/program files/the creative assembly/rome total war/launcher (basically where the launcher is) and delete the error.ini file, then run the launcher from THAT folder (RS2.exe) not the desktop shortcut.

Did that got the music and a black screen at the top left written in green.....

Music was playing all the time and I could alt tab out the black screen.

Ok its because you have bloom enabled.
You can wait for it to load, but it might take a while, or you can alt tab out and click back in to speed it up.
Or if you dont want bloom (you'll need a high end graphics card tbh) then disable it in the launcher.

PS Actually I didnt have bloom on in the launcher

If you look at your launcher ini, specialbloom=dark (which means its on) ((i think))

Yes it shows as Dark. Is it best to have it on Light Dark or simply turned off ? I have a 1 gig video card GTS 450

Im really pleased I have this working now, and I hope others with the same problem can read / notice this thread. When I did a search for possible fixes here it was very hard to find results that you have been kind enough to help me with.

Depends, i too have a 1gig card, i keep it turned off just because for me, it adds nothing.
And hopefully, i think theres 3 other people will the same issue, hopefully they'll all be fixed soon.
