Lucius Julius Caesar arrives to see the Senator.

He is shown in by some of the slaves attending the estate, the Senator greets his guest and points for him at a divan.

"Welcome Caesar, how come I owe the pleasure of a man such as you?."

Lucius smiles, much like his father.

"I come on behalf of my father, the Pro-Consul Tiberius Julius Caesar."

He puts his hands behind his back.

"My father has heard of you and wishes to have friendship with a man of your stature. Tell me, Senator, what do you intend to aim for next term? Any specific goals?"

"Ah, the honourable Pro-Consul, I hope that he will inflict a harsh punishment upon those rebels who have risen."

Quintus then smiled.

"Well and office would be nice with all the extra gold in my pocket that it would entail, as for friendship I have heard some disturbing rumours that a letter from your father defended the crazy proposal that would raise costs for us honest farmers significantly. However if it was just to please the mob I understand the gesture."

[RVFVS]

Lucius noted what Quintus said.

"My father must work for the people. However, he wishes to have you on our side. Not every proposal may yield profits in the long run for you but I can assure you that with my father's support you will rise quickly and more then make up for the small losses you have from proposals he would bring."

He narrowed his eyes.

"So the question I am asking is this: do you want to be a farmer or a powerful Senator?"

Quintus rubbed his chin before looking intensely at the young man.

"The faster you rise the harder you fall, my father used to tell me and I am quite the staunch opponent of the populist politics. However it would be a good move for both me and your father to have a friendship without me joining his faction."

[RVFVS]

Lucius nodded.

"There are certain things he would have you support. Not populist bills but other bills, bills that involve things such as war and office. Could you support these?"

"That could certainly be arranged, I suppose that I will then get the support from your fathers faction to any office I seek?"

[RVFVS]

"You would. However, in the matter of the land bills and populist policies you need not speak for them, I simply ask you don't speak against them."

[molonthegreat]

"That I can not do, my entire wealth is tied up in farms and slaves. So every move against them would only hurt my income , so this alliance can't really happen."

[RVFVS]

"Exceptions could be made. My father had one bill that would affect your livelihood. The rest is more about public farms and public land. I can assure you if any bill is proposed that affects your land and farms directly you can go against them as much as you wish."

"Well then there's not a problem Caesar, I will support your military and office bills and you will support me in the next election."

[RVFVS]

Lucius smiled.

"My father will be glad he can add you to his list of allies."

He put out his hand.

Quintus took his hand and shook it.

"A very good day for both of us."

[RVFVS]

Lucius smiled, bowed and turned to leave.

Aulus Fiber arrives to see Senator Lurco.

Quintus arrived to greet him thrilled over his recent trade ventures to Egypt which were successful beyond his wildest dreams.

"Come in Aulus and have some wine, I have much to celebrate and being visited by a man such as you makes it all the better."

Aulus smiled.

'I would be glad to share some wine with your, Quintus. Might I ask what the occasion is, or should I attempt to guess from the quality of the vintage?'

"My trading fleet just made a fortune trading in Egypt, as for the wine it is of the finest quality worthy enough for a guest of your status."

Quintus then smiled.

"May I inquire why you have honoured me with your presence Senator?."
