    Default Book suggestions.

I just finished reading a dance with dragons by g rr martin, and the prince of nothing series by r scott bakker, so I'm looking for new books to read.

I basically read fantasy and occasional sifi book and i like things with darker settings where i get the chance, although perhaps not quite so purely dark and repulsive as the world in prince of nothing.

So suggestions plz, I'll reward with rep(i can see some of your eyes light up at that word even from across the internet) so help me out guys.

Random book series i really liked lately/that pop into mind.
Game of thrones ~ g rr martin
    codex alera ~ jim butcher
    stormlight archive ~ brandon sanderson
the seven realms ~ cinda willaims chima
metro 2033 book was also very good.

I'll stop cuz this list could potentially get very long/take a long time to write.

Try anything by David Gemmell, preferably the Rigante books as he actually finished the four of those.

Sword in the Storm is the first book in the Rigante series, if you liked GRR's work then you'll like it.

Yeah, his Drenai Saga was amazing and he didn't even finish it! When he died he was reportedly writing a four book series that would have covered the War of the Twins, which given how much has been suggested about it (in other books before and after it occurred) would have been pure awesome.

But yes, his Rigante books are a good read. Ravenheart remains my favourite.

How about Malazan Books of the Fallen - there are ten books in the series (If i remember correctly) so you'll have to be committed if you want to read them all, but i really enjoyed that series. Also i found a book called the Risen Empire by Scott Westerfeld to be quite a good read, as well as anything by Robin Hobb.

Have you read the books by Esslemont as well? He was the co-creator of the malazan universe, but i haven't got round to reading them myself yet (They're on my "to-read" pile though).

The book i am going to read myself next is the chronicles of the black company, which is supposed to be good as well, which could be a good choice if you haven't read them.

First 6 books of Raymond E. Feist is some easy reading fantasy. First trilogy is okay(first book is the best, the rest are good) the second trilogy I love, because of the political intrigue and interesting setting. And once you've finished those and still hunger for more there's about 20 more books from him to read(preferrably in chronological order) They seem to get progressively worse after the Serpentwar Trilogy, but they're still good and easy to read. And there's a few gems like "Honored Enemy".

For a more "serious" fantasy I'd go with Patrick Rothfuss's "Name of the Wind" and then "A Wise Man's Fear"

For a sci-fi book. Try "Altered Carbon" by Richard K. Morgan. It's one of my favourite sci-fi books. It's a sort of detective noir in a sci-fi setting and grim. His second book of the trilogy is not as good, but the 3rd is sweet again.

    Terry Pratchett is always good.

If I was to name any sci-fi book that people should read, Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. Almost two decades after publishing and the science/politics within is still entirely valid.

Well i think i've got three of his books so far http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Cameron_Esslemont, but it seems like their are going to be 5 altogether. They supposedly tie off a few of the loose ends that Erikson left in the main series.
