    Default ERE vs Sassanids

Can anyone give useful tips how to effectively kill sassanian heavy armored cavalry. They are big in numbers and big per unit size, are heavy and rain devastating arrows .
One thing could be onagers as they are very very accurate, but at the moment I have problems recruiting them
Another thing I'm thinking of is to recruit gothic auxilia from Europe as they have att ~8, deff ~30 and have "bonus vs cavalry" (sadly, but desert auxilia are spearmen and don't have this bonus). Would they be effective?
How I kill sassanian heavy horsemen now? No effective way. If you're lucky and have heavy infantry - rush and go into melee, plus send your cavalry to help. Also use archers, but they aren't of much use against thick armour. Since comitatences take 3 turns to recruit it's difficult way as losses in battle are still heavy.
Well defend in sieges is pretty well, but when it comes to field battle...

Use slingers and manubalistarii to kill heavy armoured cavalry from a distance. If you can, gothic spearmen which can form the 'schiltrom' formation are extremely useful, especially a few on your flanks, the heavy cavalry will destroy themselves against their spears.

A good tactic is to engage the cataphracts with your own, or even medium cavalry, while your lighter cavalry go around the enemy. Put them right behind the enemy cavalry, but don't charge with them into melee. Instead, have them shower the back of the engaged enemy horse with their javellins. Works wonders.

Give your legions in Syria spears, I don't know HOW, so don't ask me But I am pretty sure they would of been armed this way historically
    Like the ones in SAI

Ive seen that if you charge with your cav and then while they pin them attacking with your infantry works fairly well. Saravan never seem to use there lances.

There are lanciarii legions but far away, in Constantinople. Personally, I even don't recruit them. It's not a problem due to comitatenes armatus are very enough unit to deal the heaviest of sassanid cavalry (the only quite real threat to ERE army in my opinion), of course some support of archers, onagers and your own cavalry is welcome
In General playing of ERE is very comfortable, and if you only want you can quite easily feel the true roman power over the world
